I smell (pun intended) a perfect excuse to turn the orchard area into a horse pasture intead.

I’ve thought about getting a couple minis actually but even those are likely still expensive because they still need a farrier and vet. At least with a goat or sheep I could do most of it by myself haha

I guess that I don't know why a covered run would be needed. When I first tried this method, I did not even have a proper coop and no fenced run at all. I dug a hole in this sand dune, lined it with horse manure with a bucket of water in the middle. Most mornings the poultry would already have the ice broken before I got to them.

I no longer have a horse so now I use poultry droppings to line the hole. Each fall I dig the now compost out and replace it with fresh poultry leavings.

It snows heavily here. Even shovelled areas get snow drifted into them that builds up into ice layers which would rapidly cover the bucket.

And before anyone says anything about my eating out yet again, I actually made myself two scrambled eggs this morning instead of going for lunchband did a lot of other good stuff like not touching my phone for at least a whole hour after I woke up, think it was closer to like an hour and fifteen or twenty minutes, and even then I barely checked it, while I ate and showered adding an additional hour, hour and a half (the first hour and fifteen minutes after I woke up was reading and getting water and some other various stuff). Now I did lay there for like 3 hours after showering but still haha

Anyway, now I am going to see a friend and don’t have time to make anything and am feeling quite sick so I grabbed a sub from Subway because there is one in the store I was at and I need to eat. I haven’t eaten since like 12. It’s 7:35 here now. And yesterday I didn’t even eat a single actual meal and only had some dried fruit, cinnamon pretzel bites from Auntie Annies, and a bunch of tortilla chips and salsa, so I am starving.

Yes I could have and should have made something at home before I left instead of sitting for hours or gone to Panera but I wasn’t hungry yet, didn’t want eggs again, and also wanted to get out ASAP lol I also thought I would be seeing my friend a lot earlier. So yeah. Haha

Not healthy I know but no time now.

Boneless chicken topped with caramelized onions and Swiss cheese, mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. There was more carrots but I didn't think to take a pic before I ate about 8 lol compliments of everyplate

They come around every night. I love to watch them. Not a great video but you’ll get the idea. When they fly lower they disappear from sight because of the trees. But they love to fly all around the fields in front of my house. And I know they are eating mosquitos and bugs so that makes me happy.

Aww. I love bats. Makes me so happy to know they’re filling their little tummies with demon mosquitos.

Side note, can anyone else here hear bats?
Every time I’m outside with people and we see bats flying around, I’m the only one who can hear them chirping. I’ve always thought it was curious.

When I was young I could hear them. I'm old now LOL
