➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Ugh. I admit that I have a phobia of maggots.
Not my fault... childhood trauma. It’s a gross story.
All of the skull cleaning I’ve done has been with ants, beetles, or just boiling water.

Owning a bearded dragon has helped, actually. Her staple is soldier fly larva, hah!
Oh man, she probably wants them live too huh?
I bet I could get over it with time but as of right now, that’s a big no on the maggots.

Yes, I finally have time to hang out for a little while and very few people seem to be on tonight.
Well we had our 20th anniversary on the 14th. That was exciting for us.

DD started back to school as a junior this year, we need to start looking at colleges, especially ones that would like to give her a scholarship. :fl:fl
She has also been driving the truck :th she really is doing very well at that and is chomping at the bit to drive my standard transmission car!!

Happy Anniversary! :woot

My garden was in poor shape due to a freeze on June 9th and 10th will cool soil temperatures into July. I was finally seeing progress and starting to get a few ripe tomatoes when it was again vandalized by Mother Nature with a vicious hail storm the evening of August 15th. I guess that I just wasn't meant to have a garden this year.

I have broken storm windows, a broken basement window, broken roofing panels on the greenhouse and guinea coop.

It is a rare year when I get to harvest the prune plums. It looked like I might get enough this year to make some peach and plum jam. The plums were getting their first tinges of purple. Now they are lying on the ground.

How disappointing! That is such a bummer.

Couldn’t end the summer on a good note of course.

Got stung in the face multiple times by hornets. :hmm Sure gonna look great for the first day back tomorrow
At least I found out I’m not allergic like it was originally thought. :idunno So got one positive out of it.

My son was out helping us pull vines and weeds along the fence line of the dog pen when all of a sudden he draws his hand back in pain. We don't know exactly what stung him but it sure did pack a wallop! It caused his pointer finger and thumb to swell up twice it's size and half of his hand. He ended up having to be taken to the dr and given a steroid and some cream. Glad your reaction was more mild! Whew!

We had a nest of Yellowjackets living under our deck!! They come every year but in a different spot. But near the same location. Last year was in a stump right next to my garden! They never bothered me though. Some years they’ve been under the railing but we took those out a while ago along with some evergreen trees best to the stairs that they loved. Anyway, this year they were under the deck. My dad finally sprayed them the other night and killed them all. Nasty little buggers.

My mom also got stung a few weeks ago when she went to drag some branches into the woods and a bunch attacked her! So we don’t know if there is another nest or what. And she also got stung another time more recently. I think that time was from the wasps under the deck.
