➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Looks like they have a lot of selection! Fortunately I have local suppliers for most things.

It’s by far my favorite feeder. Roaches are too expensive, and crickets smell disgusting and are so loud.
They’re also nutritionally comparable to dubias and have a lot of natural calcium. Win win win.

They definitely do!! That’s awesome you have local suppliers though! I think that’s probably the best option if you can find some.

And wow those seem awesome!! And definitely super cheap! Wow. Never would have even guessed or known those were an option! Although actually I think I’ve heard of them mentioned for chickens a couple times but didn’t think for reptiles. Seems like a great option! And definitely less disgusting than other insects haha and definitely seems a lot more convenient to not have to dust aha I am learning a lot from here lol thank you guys. Not that I’m ever going to get a reptile but if I ever do, now I know lol

Although, that said, I’ve heard it said that if you don’t like feeding insects that crested geckos could be a good option? Since they don’t eat insects? Or at least you can just feed them a paste/powdered mix if you want? And that they’re pretty easy to care for? So I was thinking I may opt for one of those instead if that’s true and they seem a bit more unique but I don’t think I would mind feeding insects.

last year one of my daughter's classes they had a student teaching the class for a period of time (student was going to be a teacher) anyway my daughter got a question or two wrong on a paper and she was upset cause she just knew she was right. She went to the actual professor of said class and sure enough the student teacher was wrong. She now knows to stand up for herself if she thinks they are wrong. She didn't want to say anything at first

Oh wow! Good thing she spoke up! I don’t think I would have.

We aren’t even allowed to contact our professor so hopefully that situation doesn’t arise for me.

Wow that sucks! Why not?

I had bought a bag of feed for my chickens this past Saturday. This particular store is the only one that I know of that sells my Purina Flock Raiser Pellets. We switched to the pellets because it seemed like it was less wasteful than the crumbles, especially for my ducks since the older ones were eating it as well. It's mill date was older than I prefer but my chickens were literally out of food so... I took the chance. I got home and opened it. It wasn't molded but it WAS infested with little crawly black bugs. :sick The feed store closes at noon on Saturdays and isn't open on Sundays so I had to wait until today to take care of it. I ended up going to TSC Saturday and got the chickens some Flock Raiser Crumbles. I really wish the pellets were more widely available. I mean, you can get a variety of LAYER feed in pellet form. I like the Flock Raiser because I have males in the flock and I can just offer oyster shell on the side and not worry about my boys eating too much calcium. Idk. Maybe I overthink about it but it's just the way I am doing things. I think we may switch the ducks completely over to the duck feed though. At least that is what I would like to do. That way the chickens can just have the Flock Raiser and then I can just do the crumbles and not worry about the pellets at all.

This last week we have also been meeting with Recruiters. My son wants to join the military. He already took the practice ASVAB but he will meet up there again Monday to sign a request form to take the official ASVAB and do a Medical check. Then we will go from there after he finds out what he scores on it and what field/jobs are available. He is looking at a particular field so we will see. It is going to be so difficult to let my baby go. I'm being strong now but man, if I think too hard about it... :hit Then we are going to be empty nesters. Sad thing is, all of the animals keep me bound to home so I/we STILL can't go off and enjoy myself/ourselves. :barnie

Oh wow! I bet that's very bitter sweet seeing your son make that choice. I've got career military family, only a few members, but it had served them well. One is army and is actually retired now I believe, then his son is air force and is doing quite well. I also have a friend that's army reserve. She works very hard putting in a lot of time and has seen much of the world through her military career. She LOVES her military life. Hopefully your son will love it and prosper like they have. He sounds like a brave kid.

I don't think she was gonna till we had a talk and I psyched her up to go in there and go with her head held high and engage. She did and she won

That’s awesome!! Glad you were able to convince her otherwise! It’s definitely hard to do but important. I’m really bad at that sort of stuff still haha usually I end up not saying something even when I should just to avoid the potential “conflict.” Even if it wouldn’t be a conflict at all and is just a simple problem.

One time I didn’t tell a customer I had plans to go to AZ cause I was worried how they would react even though I knew they’re really sweet and would have been fine with it so I put it off and put it off and then it was too late so I never did and couldn’t go. :hit

Another time I waited for like a half hour or hour for someone to help me load something out at Home Depot or Lowe’s cause they said they’d call someone and didn’t. Or actually, I think I saw the person who was supposed to be helping me walk by but then I wasn’t sure if it was him or just a random employee. Especially since he saw me standing there with all the stuff and didn’t do anything so I wasn’t sure.

Anyway, waited for forever, heavily debating and honestly kind of having a panic attack over whether to go ask them to call someone again or not, before finally deciding to just say forget it and load it myself since I couldn’t wait around for forever. It was several fairly large and heavy bags of garden soil mix too so I really should have had help but didn’t want to get anyone in trouble or seem like I was complaining or anything.

It’s a serious problem.

I’ve gotten better than I used to be though and also at school I was better about asking for help or more time or explaining stuff or whatever. But it was also a way smaller school and I knew most of them and they were nicer and more understanding haha had more troubles at my old school.

Also I didn’t used to even make conversation with any strangers whereas now I’m like always chatting with people when I go out so we’re making progress haha

I’m still pretty bad at it and awkward and don’t do with every person but now I at least try and do do it with most people at like registers or taking my order or whatever.

I still hate talking on the phone though. I think that’s my biggest one left to overcome haha

That and standing up for myself in person without having a panic attack or crying or running away. :lau

Cause even at the smaller school and with the really nice professors, sometimes even just explaining myself or having a conversation would result in accidental crying. :lau

I say accidental because sometimes I just automatically start crying for no reason. usually in stressful or uncomfortable or awkward or overwhelming, etc. to me situations haha

just like the other person you matter, your time is valuable and if you feel you are right speak up stand your ground. The other person is NOT always right and you are NOT always wrong.
