➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

When i was pulln my hair out for barry someone suggested to me for my tons of vicious quail-- if we had to run-- to wrap them each in newspaper like burritos, keeping the wings restrained, so they could all be packed in the back of the trucks. Thats my plan now. When the flood of 16 hit i had about 100 birds and lost about 30. Most of them could get up on high roosts but some :( then the quail of course didnt stand a chance, total lose like 15 of em i had, 3 generations of 5 locals lines. Didnt know about JMF, thought everyone ordered from far away, so i was tryn to vary the blood across all these diff peoples stock.

All to say I wont leave em again. I will take em to a whole Hotel if i got to and ive got some dog kennels (around 9) and 3 dogs and 2 cats. No more drownings.
I've been collecting dog kennels. Just in case. At what point does a collection morph into a hoard? Told Crazy Lady that the chickens ruffle easy and they go inside. I'll strap the dogs to the roof. :D If it's like the last one, won't get above 10 mph on the interstate. ARGH!

Prayers and happy thoughts for Florida!

FVRCP is a combination vaccine for FVR (feline herpes), distemper, and Calicivirus which is similar to FVR.
If it was a 3 year then yes, she can have it a couple months early (but you can always double check when you call).

I would try a litter box with lower walls, and putting one on each floor. Sometimes arthritis can cause cats to pee in easier to reach spots.
And yes, she can have urinary issues without showing other symptoms. That can be the first sign of diabetes or kidney disease.

Thanks for all the explanation and help. That’s good to know they should be able to do it early. I’ll ask when I call though just in case. And good to finally know what it is/what I’m actually vaccinating her for haha I think I looked it up a while ago but forgot ha

And okay, thank you. I will try that. I’ve thought for a while we should have litter boxes on every floor or or least the main ones even when she was younger because I had read you’re supposed to have one litter box per cat plus one extra so for her we were supposed to have two but have always had one until this year ha but anyway, point being, I thought we should have boxes on multiple floors but they were always opposed to it since they think it’s gross to have the box on the main area.

I never really fought them on it but I’m going to try if it would make her more comfortable or happier.

And oh boy! Really? I hope she doesn’t have any of those then!

God, I’m going to feel like the worst pet owner ever if she turns out to have arthritis or a serious issue like diabetes or something and I never noticed. :hit

She’s always had a bit of a weird walk too even since she was a kitten so I wonder if she maybe has some issues from it? But she has always zoomed around just fine and been lightning fast, no issues. Still no issues. She’s a bit slower and sleeps more and has calmed down a lot but I figured it was just cause she was older. It’s not really new or anything. And she is still super fast and does not act like she is in pain at all?

Im not the one to ask about a collection vs a hoard  i guess when you have enough that u stop using all of them regularly? Maybe when you have enough to safely and quickly transport everyone out in an emergency?

Yes prayers for FL :(

Don’t feel bad.. if it was easy to tell what was wrong with animals then I wouldn’t be in school right now.

Thanks, that’s true I suppose but still. Probably should have taken her right away but my dad kept just thinking she was being a brat/doing it on purpose, and I’ve been a bit distracted lately haha lots of reasons.

Anyway, I’m going to quit being distracted and take her in.

That said.... do you think she should have blood work or a urine test or something? I don’t even know I would even get her urine haha

I tried to use some of that special litter that changes color for different health problems just to make sure she was healthy, bought it before the rug thing, just thought it would be a good idea, but she hated it and refused to use it haha

And do you think it’s weird that she’s never had any of those tests or that they haven’t asked?

It’s all a case by case basis and no one knows your cat better than you do. If you think there’s a chance that’s it’s not a behavioral issue then go with your gut.
A vet would have no reason to ask you about that if you didn’t bring it up, so no, I don’t think that’s weird.

Personally I would start with the cheapest options and most likely causes and work my way up from there.
Arthritis would be on the top of my list. More litter boxes with shorter walls is an easy solution along with some reconditioning to get her to use the boxes again.

Straining to pee and bloody urine are classic UTI or bladder stone symptoms, but you never know. A urinalysis isn’t very expensive. If she has a full bladder at the vet then they should be able to express her bladder there.
A blood panel isn’t a bad idea to rule things out. Depends how much you want you spend on one vet visit.

Lunch today. Which I realize looks almost identical to dinner last night but this time it’s regular burger instead of bison burger and also I steamed the kale instead of sautéing it. And also I didn’t burn anything this time :lau
