I feel the same way haha I’m boring anyway :lau

And not yet but I’m planning on taking her soon just to be sure because it is definitely weird.

Although the really weird thing is she doesn’t do it all the time. And she does poop in the box. And she has also always liked going to the bathroom in weird places like the fireplaces or occasionally the shower (we try to discourage that one haha) so it’s not entirely unusual but it’s also definitely more frequent so I’m going to be taking her in soon.

But she also just went to the vet like last month or end of June for her shots and check up and everything and they said she was really healthy/in great shape for a 9 year old cat but I forgot to ask about the rug thing and she also wasn’t really doing it that much then.

But we did discover maybe like a few months ago that she had been going on a bathroom mat for a long time because we picked it up and it was soaked/smelled but we didn’t notice but so I think it’s not entirely new? I think she just likes the feeling of the rugs?

Either that or she is too lazy to walk downstairs and use the box when she is up here because when she is downstairs she doesn’t seem to have problems but idk. Even then she doesn’t go fully in the box we don’t think. Maybe it’s too high?

I think I am going to make a vet appointment ASAP because she needs another shot anyway (somehow messed it up and got one late so now it’s separate times) and also want to have her shaved again but I’m thinking I’m gonna just do a sanitary shave instead of a full shave/lion cut. She looks ridiculous then and also really doesn’t like it. But she does need her butt cleaned up/shaved a bit.

Anyway, while there, I will ask and have her tested. Cause I do want to make sure it’s not medical instead of just assuming she’s lazy or being a brat. Cause she didn’t used to have issues that I know of but idk. She’s always occasionally gone on the floor on the concrete back there if she didn’t like the litter or whatever but never often like this so idk.

I don’t think she has ever had a blood or urine test either but the problem is now because she has never had one, we don’t have a baseline or anything. But no vet (we’ve used a couple) has every mentioned it before. They always ask for/want to do the fecal but have never suggested bloodwork or anything. Maybe it’s not common to do unless there’s a problem??

But she still acts 100% healthy and happy and eats fine, still got attitude when she wants to (only can be held or petted on her schedule ha), doesn’t really act any different so idk

Can they have an issue and not show symptoms?

Now I’m gonna feel bad if she’s had some issue all this time and we thought she was a brat.

We also used to be really bad about changing the litter box sometimes so for a while we thought maybe it was that but now we’ve been doing it a ton and also have like 3 down there and she still does it so definitely gonna take her. Cause now she’s pooped outside it a couple times too just recently.

I think I’ll make an appointment today but probably won’t be able to take her until next week because of the holiday and also my expired registration but I’m gonna call and at least ask. Maybe make the vet appointment and get the grooming one separate or just buy a pair of clippers myself. But gonna see if they can see her and also see if they can do that shot early.

I just checked and it is a 3 year so will be 3 years in January 2020... will they do it early?? I hope so. Cause I want to take her in and get her checked out ASAP just in case but I also don’t really want to take her in like 4 or 5 times in one year.... one year being June to June. Cause I just took her the end of June, then if I take her within the next month or so, then if they can’t do the shot early, back in January, then the rabies is one year, so back in June for that, plus a separate grooming one, etc. see how it adds up? I love her and don’t want to wait until January to have her checked out but if they can’t do the shot early... idk. I somehow messed the shots up and got them at separate times ha the other one is (had to look at the sheet for this lol) FVRCP. Whatever the heck that is ha can it be done early or wait to be done with the rabies? I’m just trying to figure this all out so I don’t have to spend a fortune. But I’m not anti vet or anything or won’t just let an animal be sick and not take them, I am going to take her, just trying to figure out how best to do it so I don’t have to spend so much or go so many times in just a few months. If they can’t do it early it’ll be 3 times in just like 6 months. :th
The vet where I took Ziggy doesn'tcharge an office visit for just shots. When he went for his well kitten check, he had to wait a few weeks for his last shots. I still only paid for one office visit. Are you sure yours will charge for another office visit like that? This place is a VCA (they're a chain) but I'm pretty sure our regular vet who saw our previous pets was the same way -- not charging office visits for shots only appointments.

I have no idea what I'd do if, say, a tornado came though here. Hog tie the goats and put them in the trailer? Let's hope I never have to find out. The chickens would probably have to fend for themselves.
A few years ago the dump tried to burn us out by letting a compost heap catch fire during a very high wind period. The county police came along telling people to evacuate. I said not and that I would stay and fight the fire. Because I stayed and fought the fire, I prevented my house from catching on fire. None of my animals were hurt. I did have some smoke inhalation. One of the neighbors locked all but one of their dogs in their basement effectively killing those left behind when the house burned down.

I would try the litterbox change for 2-3 weeks and see what happens. It’s up to you.

Urinalysis and bloodwork aren’t usually routinely done for dogs..?

Okay thank you. I will try that. I wasn’t sure cause I know you had asked if she had been cleared by a vet so I was thinking maybe you were recommending taking her in ASAP or something aha

I’ll try all the changes. That was kind of my thinking too even before was that we should try changing a few things and see what happens and then if nothing changes then take her in but then I got so caught up with everything else I really haven’t tried it yet.

And ah okay. Idk. I just know with Gator and even DB&FSIL’s vet they would try to get us to do bloodwork or at least the heart worm test like every year. Gators stopped asking about blood work he tried to do it once and I think my dad said Gator almost bit him or something? So then we think vet was slightly scared of him and never asked after that ha but my dad also never did it, except a couple times when he was younger, so it got kind of pointless asking too I guess aha but idk. I just know that I’ve had multiple vets ask about bloodwork, heart worm, etc. tests for the dogs but never for the cat. So I thought it was common for dogs. But maybe not?

I really need a second one because there are multiple occasions where it would be super helpful. I end up cooking something that will hold, transferring it, washing the pot, and starting the other thing. This happens regularly enough but I'm also cheap so I'm waiting for another open box return :gig

But, I would also say @KDOGG331 should use the one she has for a while before she invests in a second and only do so if she discovers some need.

My SIL has one she NEVER uses but she had to have an Insta-Pot and she had all the best intentions of using it. Now, it's in the cabinet with the bread machine collecting dust. :idunno

Thank you. This is a good idea. I will follow this strategy. And yeah I definitely don’t want to end up never using it haha I’m planning to open it and use it soon though thankfully. Just not today haha

He’s a KuneKune, and the runt.

Awww so adorable.

Idk. All I know is every vet we’ve gone to has charged an office visit for walking in the door haha even if they only get a shot or two, office visit. Although of course we usually only go once a year so that usually includes the physical exam too so maybe if we went back so soon after the annual exam they wouldn’t charge?? Idk. They didn’t charge an office visit for the grooming appointments. But usually when we go, even at the super reasonable/more old school vet we took Gator too, they always charged for an office visit. Except sometimes he refilled meds a couple times for us without a visit. But still. Usually always had one. And the cat’s vet does too. Luna’s vet is a VCA too. And they’ve always charged us an office visit

The office visit is usually like $50-$60 bucks too.

Our regular vet is cheaper than VCA. I only went there because the shelter would pay for his sick kitten visit/treatment there and they are closer so I thought I'd try them out. I then went in for his well check and to get his final kitten shots and there was an office visit for that but not for the rabies shot two weeks later. They wanted to wait two more weeks because they were not convinced he was as old as his estimated age. Teeth, I guess? But, no office charge for the rabies shot visit even though they went ahead and put him on the scale and asked general wellness questions while we were waiting.

BTW, the little beast ate a bird this morning. :sick Nothing left but feathers and feet. Right idea, wrong species, kitty! And his food dish was nowhere near empty, he just heard it smack the window and was all over that.

Yeah, the one we took Gator to was/is very reasonable and also, most important when he was sick, doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for medicines like most vets too and he even refilled some of his prescriptions once or twice without needing to see Gator, my dad just called and he did it and let us come pick it up and pay for the medicine and it was still very cheap, didn’t charge more cause he didn’t see us or anything like that. That was nice cause it was near the end and we had just been in not long ago and said we thought we needed some more steroids so he just refilled it. We initially went to this one cause they were the only one that could shave Luna. Well, we never asked the other, but we had called Petco and they said they didn’t shave cats, but suggested this place since they were at the same exit/down the street, so we tried it. Cause at the time she had a lot of mats and needed to be shaved down. And then we just kept going to this one cause we like them. Idk. It’s only a few dollars more than our other one too for most things so it’s not really a huge deal to me. Especially since the other one has somewhat increased their prices a little bit the past few years too. They both seem to go up every year but usually only a few dollars or so and actually looking at receipts, some places are more for some things and some they’re cheaper for so it evens out haha I really like this one and it’s more modern so I don’t mind paying for it ha last time was actually pretty reasonable and would have been under $100 but then I got suckered into toothpaste haha which btw is the same one I had bought on Chewy a while ago for cheaper but forgot about except that came with a brush or two and this didn’t.

That makes sense!! Totally understandable. I’d go there if it was free too lol

And maybe it’s different for kitten and puppy vaccines where some of the vaccines are two part and require going back in a few weeks? But they definitely charge us every time we walk in haha

And oh wow that is nasty!! Haha
