It depends which variety that you planted as to whether or not it is good to eat. I have picked and eaten cucumbers that big and larger. I like mine peeled (not necessary, depends on your tastes), sliced, added chopped (large pieces) fresh tomato, with a homemade dressing that I prefer. Mix everything together with the dressing components and put in refrigerator for a minimum of 15 minutes before eating.

Thanks! That helps. I think they are just a generic burpless kind? Idk. The card said “burpless bush hybrid” and the giant one was the same except climbing instead of bush. Except to me they almost look like two different types of cucumbers. Based on that info page, the burpless ones are okay to eat larger? Although we had another huge one a few weeks ago from the same plant (though not quite as big as this) and my dad didn’t like it/said it was bitter so idk. I guess I will try it myself and see. I like your idea of cutting it up with dressing too. That sounds good. Or I was thinking of maybe making a cucumber melon salad or something.

Also the pepper plants on the deck are going crazy!! Took these Sunday and never posted them but they’re still just as crazy! Except now one is hanging over with peppers. Gotta get a cage. They both have tons of peppers on them now. Some pretty big. Which is good because I was starting to think I might have to prune the plant a little bit so it could focus on producing fruit and not leaves. Still might have to. Have been taking a few leaves off here and there cause it is just CRAZY haha

The ones in ground no longer look like scrawny sticks but are doing NOWHERE NEAR as well as these potted ones. Even the same exact kind. The other kinds I have are actually doing better. But nothing is doing as well as these guys.

The homemade salad dressing can overcome a mild bitterness. The other thing is that pickling them does eliminate any bitterness.

Thank you! That is very helpful. I might have to try it both ways. I have tons of smaller cucumbers to pickle though so may not need these bigger ones for that but could maybe make some big dill slices or something. Or will try the salad. Thanks for all the tips.

That is a very good point!! I gave them cucumbers last week because we’ve been getting soooo many we can’t eat them all and these were on the verge of going bad (soft and gross enough I didn’t want to eat them lol) and they LOVED them. Wolfed them down. Also gave them a bunch of on the verge cherry tomatoes today and they loved those even more. They are little vacuum cleaners lol I will have to give them these cucumbers if we don’t like them. Although that said I am planning on making pickles with a bunch of the smaller ones.

I’m so tired lately :th

All I wanna do is sleep lol but don’t worry, I have not been doing that. Instead, I have been forcing myself to do stuff and not do that. Planning on making pickles tomorrow since we have tons of cucumbers the perfect size for it. :D

Just need to get some jars and maybe a canner. Idk. Can I just use a regular pot? Though it said I needed a rack I think? And an air bubble remover thingy and stuff.

Skip making pickles and clean your room.
