➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Omgoodness that would be amazing :love They are so cool even if they are totally impractical pets.

DH is the fish fan in our house. He has a lovely 20 gal tank with lots of fresh water plants, fish, and shrimp. It is really cool just not something I personally am drawn to. I prefer pets I can more closely interact with.:)
Yup, hubby is the oceany fish guy. Not my scene.

We used to get our feeders from a neat little reptile store that was run by the husband of the vet I used to work for.
They had a tegu that was as tame as a dog. Knew his name and everything. Really cute dude.

This was only like a month ago, long after we got Theia. :gig

My heart is drawn to most every animal. I have to let my brain make the decisions; I will never ever let an animal suffer because I lack the money or time for it.
Sometimes my heart pulls a little harder than my brain, and that’s what hubby is there for lol. Reality check!

Oh boy!! I still contend that you should have gotten him! Is he still there? Was he adopted?

And that is very smart and honestly the right approach!! I wish more people would think about that stuff before getting animals! So many animals suffer because people don’t do any research prior to getting them!! :hit:mad:

And honestly if I could I would have like 20 million animals!! LOL

Mine is 90 at 4 ft  its been down a Long time and i have a 29 with Angels right now

Oh wow that’s awesome!! Huh so it’s bigger than I thought lol

And nice! Angels are cool fish!

Same. But then, I’m not much of a fish person.

Now slap a tegu in that tank and you’re speaking my language! :love

I’m normally not really, like I hate doing the maintenance, but I like watching the fish lol and there are some seriously gorgeous Betta tanks out there. :love :drool I used to have a pretty decent one with some plants and stuff but then the Betta died. I’d love to have another and also make it even better. I suck at arranging stuff so it wasn’t super pretty like most LOL but I love a good Betta tank. :drool

And a good goldfish or koi tank or pond. They really need a pond I think ha I love koi ponds. :love

And I love Platies. I want to set up a tropical tank with some platies and maybe mollies or guppies or tetras or something haha not really a huge tetra person.

Okay... I guess I do like fish :lau

I’m mostly just drawn to the cool colors and to plants and stuff haha and I find watching them is really relaxing and can help anxiety too lol but then again so can dogs and cats. :lau

I’d love to set up a pond outside though for the goldfish and then either use their tank as a tropical tank or sell it and get like a 29 or 40 for the tropical haha that way I have a gorgeous inside tank and only one tank to maintain and a nice pond outside. :D

Also I would love to set up an aviary for some birds one day. I really want a parakeet and/or cockatiel aviary. :love

And I would love a nice rat cage or a snake but my parents hate both so that’ll never happen while I’m living at home lol

Also I just thought of this today... I think I kind of want a hermit crab. Fairly simple and easy pet and so cute!

Omgoodness that would be amazing :love They are so cool even if they are totally impractical pets. Although...they are much better suited to being pets than iguanas IMO.

Wait now you have me curious on your reasons why lol

And that is awesome!! I want something like that eventually but I think maybe a little bit bigger like 29 or at least the tall 20. I have a 20 long right now. But I might be able to do something with it haha

And yeah that’s true. I prefer that too! Although tbh that said I talk to my fish and they seem to recognize me and swim up to me when I walk in :lau

And fish can hear! :D

Angels are so beautiful. My MIL raised those for many years. I think DH wants to get some someday.

They really are neat fish! And he should!!

I am also not a fish fan. I turned all my old tanks into brooders.

Honestly an excellent idea!! LOL

I loveeeeee salt water tanks but way too much work for me or at least.... I haven’t put the time into understanding it and it confuses me.

And wow that is awesome!!! :D

Yeah, I should clarify that by impractical, I am only referring to the crazy amounts of space they need plus the high feeding costs. They seems to have really fantastic personalities. Way better then most of the other giant lizards. I would love to get to meet one in person some day. That must have been so cool.

How much room and money do they need? Haha

Also aren’t tegus dangerous or have some chemical on their skin or something? Or is that Komodo dragons?

Are iguanas vicious or something??

Yeah, but can you put funny little flower hats on them? I don’t think so.

Nope, he was snatched up quickly. Our shelters have a very high turnover rate.
I have to remind myself often that in reality, I’m not the best owner in the world, and there are hundreds of other homes that would be perfect for him as well. He is happy wherever he ended up.

I would go hungry if it meant providing for another dog, but I don’t have the time and energy right now. Same for a ferret.

Oh yes, impractical in the sense that shitty impulse buyers are now destroying Florida’s ecosystem with them.

It was cool. I’ve always wanted a tegu or an ackie.
Someday.
