➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Of course now that I bought the other one, there’s an even bigger, better one available :lau :barnie

Oh well haha

In other news, the garden is still producing like crazy. Although I also haven’t collected vegetables in a while besides cucumbers so some of these have been ready a while, like the beans :lau  but there’s still tons of little ones on there too and both the tomatoes and the beans are coming back to life/growing new bright green leaves (they were kind of yellowing/dying) so that’s cool. A bit late in the season though.... :lau but hey, I’ll take it haha

Kind of ruined/stretched out my shirt carrying all that in it :lau

Hopefully it will fix itself/be fine. :fl

Made a mediocre grade on my diseases test. A little ticked off.
I studied my butt off, didn’t seem to do much.
Classmates were bragging that they skimmed their notes 30 minutes before class started. Good for you, I guess.

Now I’m looking at an all nighter while studying for a parasitology test tomorrow. Anyone got any ticks they want me to identify? Lol.

Another vet meeting tomorrow night, a 20 page biochem assignment due Thursday, an animal nutrition paper due over the weekend... I want to cry. And sleep. Cry myself to sleep.
I don’t know how anyone could possibly work as a full time student and maintain good grades (I’m of the opinion that you can’t).
Ready for this week to be over.

Yes, this is self inflicted, Nutty. Let me complain dammit! If I can’t quit then I’ll at least fantasize about it.

Dog, how goes the resume?

Elkman, did that fawn from several days ago ever make it out of your fence?

How’d you sleep last night, Nana? I bet those calves were plenty vocal.
How many head do you have? At the ranch we have to use horses to split the mommas up. Talented cutting horses are a beauty to watch.

We are here for your mental support! Feel better?

Sleep is important. Sometimes more important than studying. If you aren't physically at your best (under stress), then you won't perform your best no matter what. May I suggest getting sleep and going to the tests well rested?

Deep breath! Focus! Rest (and de-stressing) is important.

I find it interesting that the people who worry over the stress of their animals induce their own stress.

You can do it.

I was confident that the Yellow-billed Cuckoo was still around all summer because I kept hearing this from time to time. I finally spotted it in the driveway a few days ago but it was gone before I could get a camera. Yesterday I was able to capture it again.

As it turns out, this year was not the first time I had a Yellow-billed Cuckoo here. Back in 2013, I found a dead bird in the garden. I never identified it until today when I went back and checked the photos and it indeed was a Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Based on where it was found, I believe that it died from hitting the garden fence too hard.

To my knowledge, Maximilian sunflower is the only perennial sunflower. On a good year, I have had the stalks grow as much as 8' tall. This year mine are only 4' tall and many have a "U" in the stalk from the hail damage. The unfortunate part is that they are late bloomers and in years of a hard early freeze they may not get to bloom at all. Their peak blooms are in October. They produce lots of seeds but this is the first year where I have found new plants in a location that they can only have come up from seeds. I believe they also spread by runners and the original location has gone from a 1'x1' bed to a 4'x3' deep bed.

On September the 23, I saw a fox squirrel here. The last time one was here that I know about was Dec. 2014. It didn't last long as it was invited to dinner by a Red-tail Hawk. I am guessing that someone from in town is trying to get rid of their problem squirrels by making them someone else's problem.

It was still here yesterday.
