I’m so excited!
My grandparents just landed from Australia. They’ll be spending a month in the states; the first and last week of their visit will be with us.
I haven’t seen them since my wedding two years ago... and they’re the most recent overseas relative I’ve seen!

This is exciting! I know you enjoy seeing your grandparents and will enjoy catching up. Bet you make some sweet memories too!

And this is my daughter who never had a bullseye and probably had Lyme disease for 10 plus years while being misdiagnosed numerous times by numerous doctors before finally being diagnosed with Lyme disease and Babesiosis. Btw, she never spoke with long pauses or stuttered. She used to give presentations on medical and physical conditions of challenged students to educators.

The truth of the severity and seriousness of all tick borne diseases needs to be put in everyone's heads! Not being aware allows ignorance and the spread of this horrifying condition. A Senator had to die from a tick bite for people to take notice! How many average citizens have to suffer and die before something gets done? And, no! A 3 week round of antibiotics don't cure Lyme unless it is diagnosed within a very short window. It is so difficult to diagnose, gets misdiagnosed, that most miss the window. Like my daughter.
Put it in everyone's head before it's too late.

How about after one of your walks with a dog?
Do you take potassium?
When was your last physical?

I’m usually fine after walking the dogs but I do it so much I think I’ve gotten used to it. At first I wasn’t. And if I go on longer walks than usual (with or without dogs) then it happens then too. Sometimes I even feel weird just walking around stores but they’re usually really stuffy and hot so I think that’s why. On really hot days, walking the dogs is harder. But in winter I’ll get it shoveling snow too.

I don’t take potassium or any other vitamins or anything.

I just had a physical earlier this year. Not sure exactly when but early and everything came back fine. Been back a couple other times too

But anyways, all that said, I actually have been making progress on all that stuff and have been eating much better lately and exercising more so that’s good at least. I’ve been cooking a lot lately and have been walking some. But I don’t think walking alone is enough to help. I think I need to start running up flights of stairs or something.

Hm that’s a good point but I figured I could start slow maybe? I’ve done it a couple times, run up and down until my legs start burning and I start panting and huffing and puffing , and I’m usually fine after if I get some water and sit down a while. Figured I could build up slowly. Maybe not to the point of panting yet.

I agree. Especially being in a parasitology course under a veterinarian who specializes in tick-bourne diseases.
My comment was less about Lyme and more about Kdog. (no offense dog )

A good friend of mine has Lyme and she had to fight for the diagnosis. Very hard to treat and diagnose, even if you know what you’re looking for (and many unfortunately don’t).

My daughter was on Albuterol for sports induced asthma when she was competing in ice skating. Anxiety and competing in a cold arena would bring on an attack. So she would take a puff before her skate.

You might want to work on your core while losing weight...makes stronger support for your essential organs.
And will improve posture too.

I don’t think Tes meant any harm or meant to say that Lyme wasn’t serious. She just knows that sometimes I can be a bit of a hypochondriac and start researching a million different symptoms and diseases and convince myself I have every one. so I think she was just meaning it was yet another disease for me to worry about.

But reading and watching all that stuff, I had no idea it was so serious or that there were so many other symptoms!! I also didn’t know about that other disease. That is terrifying!!

I think I will definitely go get tested.

Yeah, I figured you meant because of my hypochondriac tendencies.

It does seem like a very serious and scary disease though and I definitely don’t take it seriously enough.

I often go places without high socks, sometimes without even long pants, without bug spray, etc. and I’ve been known to walk in the yard barefoot despite having tons of deer around.

I haven’t done that lately though since we just had a ton here the other day but still.

Should probably get serious about protecting myself. I had no idea there were so many other tick diseases that could infect much faster.

I also am not serious enough about the mosquitoes and EEE threat even though like 3 or 4 people have died from it this year and there’s been way more cases.
