➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

My beagle was an outdoor dog until we got her. She's now a couch dog. It's a common thing here, I don't know why. Hunters have hunting dogs that live outside year round too. They use dogs to hunt deer here, it's a different environment here and I'm still not used to it, I'm used to New Hampshire and how people treated their pets there.

Umm a lot of dogs prefer to be outside. Used to be dogs were not allowed in the house. They were working dogs.
Now some of the dogs without a good coat need to be inside. But they have been breed to be pets.
Difference between a pet chicken and what you eat... Usually anyway

Right now it's all about saving, which we completely suck at

Aw totally understandable!! I do too :lau

Where is the big dummy?
I grew up with Bull Mastiffs.:love

Mastiffs are awesome!! :love

My bad...it's the neighbor's big beast, not yours Fort.

Still steal a picture of him if you can.

X2!! Lol

Think he's "chained" up at the neighbors, but he gets loose. He barks at me and I tell him to go home. He always listens to me. It's a brindle colored one. It's gorgeous.

Awwww poor guy is probably saying steal me lol

He's telling you to go play with with him!

Or he’s saying steal me/save me! :lau

These are my dummy's! That little one is giving me the evil eye because I told her to get off my pit bull mix :gig

They're scared of people, it's kind of sad. They're outdoor dogs. We have fed them and let them sleep in our shed from time to time. They have 7 other dogs...

OMG poor things!! Those people should not have dogs :(

If it was me I’d probably steal them and/or call animal control haha but maybe not. That sort of thing would probably get you in trouble there.

Poor thing.

Aw that’s sad. Probably hard to get used. There’s soooo many roaming and/or unwanted dogs down south, it’s sad. :(

It’s probably why all the shelters are always full and they always ship dogs up here. :(

That said, my grandpa always kept his dogs outside too and they were always well taken care of and loved/cared for and everything. Sometimes in winter they’d come inside and the barn cats too, think my nana wouldn’t let him make them stay out there haha but they were cared for, he usually had one at a time, bird hunting dogs, and they were in a kennel but they did get out a lot to hunt and train. And their last dog was an indoor pet dog. But the hunting ones he always kept outside in a kennel. Now he has none cause they moved to an apartment.

But my point being even though they were outside and even though I don’t really necessarily 100% like or agree with outdoor dogs (unless they’re a working dog that has to be or something), if they’re loved and well fed and taken care of, have shelter, exercised/trained/interacted with daily, etc. I don’t think the outside bit alone is necessarily bad. I wouldn’t do it but it’s possible to be taken care of still. It’s just the idiots that don’t feed them, don’t give them shelter or water, don’t play with them, just chain them up on a short little chain, or let them roam or whatever that suck. :(

I’m wondering too haha

I technically lived in Maine until I was 15... In Caribou Maine...

In NH I lived in several places in Hillsborough County. My mom worked in Worcester Mass...

I totally get if they prefer being outside or it’s like an LGD or other dog that had to be outside and I think that the being outside but itself isn’t necessarily bad. I know plenty of outdoor dogs or dogs in kennels who are still given the best care possible and/or are out of the kennel more than they’re in it or whatever.

But it sounds like these idiots aren’t taking care of their dogs. :(

Being outdoors isn’t bad but not being properly contained/allowed to roam, not being fed or watered, not given shelter, etc. is bad.

If someone wants to keep their dogs outdoors, fine. I don’t have a problem with that part. Just with the idiots who get a dog only to neglect and/or abuse it. Whether it’s an indoor dog or an outdoor dog. Cause idiots can and do abuse indoor dogs too.
