➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I can't take much more lol little things like saying "Home cooked meals are not a balanced diet" will set me off because I've worked with the local vet to perfect nutritionally balanced home cooked meals. I take stuff like that to heart.

Yeah but I don’t think they were intending it as a personal attack or anything. If yours is balanced and your dogs are healthy, that’s all that matters. I don’t think she was trying to say your particular diet was wrong, just in general they usually aren’t. Which is usually true cause a lot of people don’t take the time to add the vitamins and stuff like you do. And Tes is in vet school. Lots of people have experience with animals and I don’t think it was intended as anything bad.

Honestly, they’ve said a few things I’ve disagreed with, several I thought at first was mean or an attack or whatever, but I thought about it and realized it was all done with good intentions and care/concern and I’m still here.

They’re all good people and usually even if we disagree for a few minutes, we move on and are friends again very shortly after.

I'm just someone who puts their heart and soul in their animals. Maybe it was just it being written after what I said that set me off. I can be a big B at times, but it's usually because I'm sick and my body isn't happy so it throws tantrums.

You'd think having two brothers that pick on me constantly would toughen me up, but some days I'm not as tough and I'm a cry baby.

Welcome to the internet. If you put your opinion out there, why can’t I reply with mine? It’s not personal, we just disagree and that’s okay.
I’m surprised you have not encountered this more often as a former vet tech.

I think not using heartworm preventative is silly and looking for trouble. That’s my opinion from my own life experiences and everyone in this thread definitely knows that by now. Lol.
I also believe almost all homemade diets are unbalanced and result in nutritional deficiencies. Again: my experience. If your’s is balanced and vet approved, that’s awesome. Good for you! Really.
Most people do not have the time, money, or care to properly formulate a homemade/raw diet.

Now as long as we can agree that DE is not a dewormer then we can all get along. Lmao.

I think everyone here does though. We all love and care about our animals.

And I get that but I think it might be helpful to take a step back and breathe/think about it and not reply right away when you feel like that.

I never gave my opinion with clients because that was for the vet to do and vet techs were there to be nice and not give medical advice unless the vet asked us to. We knew what to say like what we would recommend to feed and such but it was stuff the veterinarian told us to say. I usually was in the surgery room dealing with the real fun stuff like gangrene :sick

Heartworm preventative is great and I know many people who use it.

I don't even know the true intention of DE besides it being a dusty mess.

Again, many of us have worked with vets too, so we get it.
I was talking about experiencing controversy about animal husbandry decisions. Even the experts don’t agree half the time.

DE is silica powder (microscopic shards) that cuts open the joints of an insect’s exoskeleton and kills them via desiccation.

what is in it.. or where can I get some
Amazon... My vets office sells it but they're usually out whenever I go in. I've never had issues with fleas, ticks, or mosquitoes. I even use it on myself when I run out of my bug repellent. Vets Best has the best products in my opinion. My beagle has allergies to some weed that grows here and their allergy shampoo works wonders, I bought it at the vet's office when we got her. Her previous owner got rid of her because they couldn't control it.

It didn't work when I used it. It just made my lawn turn white and killed nothing :idunno
