➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

You guys... I bought chicks today at the swap and I got a rooster :th

I was at the Dollar tree and a woman turned around in line and said Merry Christmas and handed me $5...

Before I had gone into the Dollar tree the gentleman next to us was showing us (I think he called it a seabright) a rooster. He said that all of his roosters were picking on them because of his size and asked if we wanted him for free. We couldn't say no :D

His daughter had chicks they hatched which were orpington/Easter Egger and Easter Egger crosses. I gave her $6 ($5 from the lady at Dollar tree) for the 2 chicks. She wanted to give them to me for free. Wonderful people!

The roosters crow is hilarious. I have been laughing since we got home. He's so friendly too!

They're really comfy! I found mine at Kohl's.
i’m hoping i get them! I used to buy clothes and shoes for myself regularly when i was losing weight and working out, but then I discovered byc and “chicken math” and then “quail math” took over my non-existent expendable income!! :lau (and my “free time”)

Oh ya that chicken math will get you every time! I can't believe I got another rooster.

I just bought tons of vegan food from thrive market so I can try to lose a few more lbs.

What trash....stealing birds out of cages.
Something bad is going to happen to that idiot...watch.

Did you take pictures while you were there?
Yes. I took pictures of some ducks that look like some of mine. They are on my phone
There were hundreds of entries and breeders from many states. There was even a Serama table judging...some stunning roosters and adorable hens.
The Toulouse geese were huge!

Here is my Sebright. His name is Ansel (Adams) because of the black and white. Sebrights are the only true Bantam...not derived from large fowl and the roosters tail is just like the hen's tail.

Do you clip his wings?

He flew over the 8 foot fence yesterday. I finally caught him after 30 minutes of running through the woods

Did you bare hand catch him? Impressive.

I recommend a fishing net. 4' long is ok. The 6' long handles are better. I'm looking for another tight meshed, 6 foot handle net for the quail . I take it to the other coops, just in case. Then lose a quail from the first set of coops and have to run back and play find the quail.

I admit it is easier with a shotgun. But the challenge with a net!
