There are reasons. Most of the younger vets are deeply in debt for their education. Even vets have to have malpractice insurance which is another big cost. Their clinics aren't free and most clinic owners are also deeply in debt or paying high leases.

They have two jobs. Doing the Vet stuff and then office management and accounting until the practice is able to support more staff. They bust their butts and some don't make it. Others become indentured slaves until they can start their own practice. Amazing what some go through to become highly certified pooper scoopers. Cause everything poops.

And many accept “insurance” which drives up fees
