"There's need for that, unless you're just in a shopping and possibly getting yourself killed mood," Amy said, equally quietly, as if she feared their conversation was being listened in on. She handed Artemis a mug full of coffee and continued. "It's not safe for you to leave this building, at least not immediately. Let me do your shopping," she then suggested cheerfully.

Artemis took the cup after collapsing in the nearest chair. "You're right. Would you mind grabbing me some black hair dye, and blue contacts in town tomorrow?" She asked politely before speaking again with a more serious tone. "I want to thank you, for everything."

(I meant "no need" But I think you still got my point, thankfully :p )

"I actually have some dark brown dye here if you want that," Amy offered. She didn't mind getting the black dye, but it may raise suspicions in her rather small town. "I keep telling myself I'm going to add some lowlights to my hair, but haven't found the time in the two months I've had that stuff," she explained to clarify why she had it and to assure Artemis that she didn't really care about it. "And you're very welcome. I'm here to help people like you," she said with a smile.

Devine sighed as her attention drifted from the subject he had been leading her towards. "Of course, I'll take my coffee black." He reached in his back pocket, and taking out of his wallet enough money to pay for both coffees and a tip, handed it to Aya.
(That reminded me of a scene from a movie my mom told me about. It was some hipster coffee shop and a white dude walked up to the counter and told the black worker what he wanted. He said something like, "Just a cup of coffee, black." And the black guy got SUPER offended because he thought the guy was talking about his skin color. It was hilarious. XD)

"Oh, thank you." Aya thanked him politely and took the money, going over to the counter and ordering some coffee.
She stood there for a few minutes while the workers made the coffee, and when they finished she used her own money to tip them, then took the two cups of coffee back to the table and sat down, handing Devine the coffee he had requested, and giving him the leftover money.

(Better safe than sorry :p )
"That's fine." Artemis agreed. She much rather dye her hair black, and have her eyes blue, since when she was a kid black-haired, blue eyed women had always been her role model, but she didn't want to inconvenience Amy. Even more she would have rather worn a wig, than dye her hair but that would have been even more suspicious.

"Good," Amy smiled with satisfaction. "I'll set the hair stuff out for you tomorrow morning before I go shopping. I need to get some groceries anyway, so I'll look for some contacts while I'm out." Taking her own coffee filled cup, Amy flipped the overhead light off and switched on the lamp nearest her, then went to sit on the small sofa across from Artemis. She picked up a book that had been deposited open face down on the side table and set it in her lap, as if she was going to read it.
Anyone outside glancing in would simply see the coffeeshop owner with coffee and a book, and would be unaware of the escapee in the shadowed corner. "What happened to you?" She finally asked in a low voice once she was settled.

(How funny!)
Devine took the coffee, along with the money he tucked back into his wallet and then in his back pocket. He sipped carefully on the hot liquid in silence as he watched out the window.

Artemis looked to her hands which had been laid in her lap, looking for the words to explain herself. "I was interegated until the C.M.I. decided my death would prove more useful to theit cause then keeping me alive for information, but I escaped." Artemis left out the part about having Jaxson help her escape, she believed he had used her escape for his own purposes and didn't want to admit that to Amy. Subconsciously she reached for the bump at the back of her neck where she had been injected with Bullet Ant venom, wondering if Amy had noticed it, but was stopped by a sharp pain. "Not much to tell." She lied, not wanting to tell her everything she had been through.

Amy believed there was much more to the story, but she wasn't one to pry, so she pretended satisfaction with Artemis' answer. She decided to steer the conversation from Artemis' personal story to the location where she was held. "What is it like? Inside?" She asked. She took a small sip of her coffee and then adjusted the book in her lap, opening it to a random page.

Artemis hesitantly thought of an answer. "Well fortified, and guarded. The building has individual cells for prisoners without doors, but each prisoner is made to wear a bracelet so that if they attempt to leave the cell an invisible force at the doorway of the room will shock than with a great enough voltage to either knock them instantly unconscious, and for weaker prisoners, to their death. The guards, and whoever works within the building can, however, walk through the invisible force without being harmed." Artemis finished in solemn silence.
