Wondering if these are sprout-able?

I’m guessing they’re not?

I did a lot of transplanting today.
I separated 3 so far in plastic cups for my nieces and nephews.

Then I cut some cups in half and added one sprout per cup. I wanted to use less soil so I made the “pots” shorter.

They’re on top of the window now.

I then cut an egg carton in half and used it for another 6 sprouts.

I know it’s far too late to be transplanting them to such small “pots”, but this will have to do for now. I won’t be too bummed if a few die away from lack of space.

I also ended up tossing a few that looked weak and overall yellowish.

I left two sprouts in some of the cups as well. One cup is still crowded with sprouts, as is the strawberry container. I will get to those another day.

Even after giving some away and tossing some, I still counted 44 sprouts. :th Some new ones must’ve sprouted. Shoot.

Well… still no activity from the strawberries.

The lemons are doing great. I’m not noticing as swift growth ever since I took off the plastic wrap for humidity (the plants started bumping into the plastic wrap)… but they are starting happy and healthy. I even noticed a 5th one coming up, which got me excited. Circled below.

All the ones in the egg carton died off after a couple days. Likely from lack of space.
Well, that took a few more off my hands. 😅

The others are doing good.

So if anyone plans on ever growing lemons… my advice would be to WAIT. I planted these seeds weeks ago. Over 4 weeks ago. And one sprout JUST came up.

I have had tomato and pepper seeds germinate after 3 months.

The internet said lemons take a week. It doesn’t take a week.
I've been reading through you thread and really enjoying it! I've grown many things from seed also. I have several growing in my yard right now. I thought you might like a link I've used for many years. It's a very old site. It has a wonderful seed germination database that will help you start almost anything. I've always found it to be accurate on things I've tried. You will have to look up the botanical name for whatever your working with. This is the contents page, just click on the "green thumb".

Here's a few of the things I've grown from seed.

Red Bud Tree (took 1 1/2 yrs to germinate) age 3 yrs

Pomegranate about 2-3 years old, will be planted in the ground soon

Palm Sabal minor about 20 yrs old These grow slowly. Full of seed which the squirrels plant everywhere 🤣

Lots of luck with your peppers and lemons! They look great! 😊

As I can my tomatoes, I save seeds from the really good ones. My goal is to have 4-5 varieties I can depend on to grow good plants that make good 'maters. I've been growing Amish Paste from my own seed for a couple years. This year I bought seed for Hungarian Heart and Italian Heirloom and a couple other kinds. Hungarian Heart and Italian Heirloom are going to be in my garden next year along with the Amish Paste. I'll buy a couple more varieties to try out to see if I can find some more winners.

I save several tomato varieties too. I also do some peppers, Carolina Sieva, a small lima, and a purple hull pea. Several flowers too. I never have to worry about those.
One year I purchased Black Krim seeds. Grew out 6 plants and only 2 were actually Black Krim. I was so mad. You don't find out till they fruit! I don't ever know what the others were. Saving my own solves that problem.
