So we have had 2 more quail chicks hatch this morning (they are still drying in the incubator). After reading some of the previous posts I am concerned about adding them to the brooder with the 23 other chicks that hatched on Saturday and Sunday morning. Any recommendations?
Do you use a heat lamp or brooder plate or ect?
Quail can be rough once theyāre past 3 days. They grow incredibly fast. If you use a heat lamp, you can put them in a box near it and the other chicks canāt get them.
You can try to add them and just watch to see what happens. Iām my experience if they hatch more than 3 days apart I separate them.
Yours might not be like mine and kill each other. I had two different households eggs. The aggressive ones were my friendsI use a brooder plate. There are still 2 more eggs left to hatch (I was going to candle them when I take the 2 out). I have other plates and lights though. I may have to upgrade the group of 23 so I can use the small plate for the 2 then.

she made sure they got some and called them over. They were scared so she shooed everyone away gently and when chicks still didnāt notice it was safe, she went and got them lol and lets them peck food off her beak
