🐝💗Our Backyard Beekeeping Journey!💗🐝

65°F, sunny but very windy. My bees don't like the wind. Very few are out and about.

Looks like the sweet clover is about done. Another chore to add, mow.
Currently 60°F & sunny here. It was rainy and windy yesterday. Calling for more of the same later today.

At least mowing is almost done for the season. We'll need to mow at least one more time.

Today's agenda: Honey extraction and feeding if needed.
I hope the smell of the buckwheat honey doesn't chase us out of the bee shed...lol
Need to install gate valves on 2 more 5g buckets.
For us here, anything to do with honey processing is done. Equipment cleaned and covered, gates removed from buckets for stacking, now time for hive construction on those cold winter days.

Well, I think we have some hive robbing going on.

I've been wanting to add robbing screens, but we just haven't gotten around to it. Our lives have been so hectic. I flipped the entrance reducers for the time being. Hubs is looking at building the screens.

Bees are flying everywhere.

77 F and the bees are bustin', bringing in pollen, still taking the syrup but not as heavy. Queen is still laying but lightly. Numbers are strong going into cold weather. "Experts" here say we are in for a mild winter, we'll see.
Same here, we'll see!

Do you have a large number of dead bees? Are they fighting or fanning? Temperature will bring bees out if hive has large number of bees to cool things down. Did see some spotting on hive body, doesn't seem abnormal amount.
