Aha! I see several of those around here. I never knew they had a proper name.A high tunnel is basically an unheated greenhouse. Steel tubing and plastic cover.
How was your honey harvest this year?

Explain what a high tunnel is![]()
Not awesome. Maybe fifty pounds. Valdez is in a coastal rainforest type environment and we can really wet summers. This year was better than normal.Aha! I see several of those around here. I never knew they had a proper name.

Well, I for one am glad you accidentally posted here. Would love to learn more about your bees and how you keep them where you live.We have one old hen left that lives in the high tunnel. I’m setup for bigger numbers now, but stuck finding fertile eggs. Probably have to wait for spring. I’ll get in trouble again for the wrong topic in the thread.
I think we have commercial hives here all summer long. I don't think I have any close neighbors that keep bees though. We'll treat with OA again probably in December. Not sure what we'll do before we put supers on in the spring.
My only mite threat comes during Cranberry pollination when commercial hives are put on the bogs and treat as a matter of course alternating products. Still like to keep up to date.
