🐝💗Our Backyard Beekeeping Journey!💗🐝

Not that you need another reason to get more hives but candles for Christmas are great!

I really love those! 💗
Beeswax candles burn really clean and bright with no dripping. The green ones are 50/50 Bayberry and beeswax.
I hope next year I can give homemade candles for Christmas.
If you go to club meetings and ask around, you can sometimes get extra wax that's clean at a fair price for foundation or candle making.

I have a bee keeper friend ("Ed, my bee guy") who has lots of wax, I'm sure. What I really want is to make candles from our wax.

What I really want is to get enough honey to get enough cappings to make candles from our wax.:)

Good morning! Hope you're all having a good day.
We pulled the white boards this morning. 1 on the swarm hive, 4 on the package hive and at least 15 on hive #2. So glad we got one treatment in. Hopefully any left will continue to drop. We leave tomorrow and will be gone for a week. We'll treat again in January.

Checked on the Wyoming Italians today. Other than a couple of robber bees and a few dead bees the hive is empty. They had cleaned up at least 50% of the pollen patty and had been working on the fondant.

I am guessing that the queen had died and the lack of bees is due to no replacement brood. Seemed like there were plenty of bees when I added the pollen patty and fondant.

Closed the hive up and will deal with it in the spring.

The other two hives have plenty of activity.
