Checked on the Wyoming Italians today. Other than a couple of robber bees and a few dead bees the hive is empty. They had cleaned up at least 50% of the pollen patty and had been working on the fondant.

I am guessing that the queen had died and the lack of bees is due to no replacement brood. Seemed like there were plenty of bees when I added the pollen patty and fondant.

Closed the hive up and will deal with it in the spring.

The other two hives have plenty of activity.

Has to be disappointing.

Was anyone affected by the strong winds? We're on a trip to Tahoe. They had a wind warning here and at our place, I also saw Wyoming & MT got hit with it and I think many other places too. We called our son and had him move the pickup in front of our hives. The wind was coming from the SW and they were calling for 60-75mph gusts. Our son told us it didn't hit that bad at our place, but there were scattered power outages across the county from it and it hit Spokane, downed trees took out power. That's where our daughter & sil live. They're with us. Looks like their house didn't lose power.

I had some major gusts driving horizontal rain. I see one dead tree leaning against another tree but did not see any other damage.

I expected to see downed limbs but haven't found anything major.

I'm glad nothing really bad happened. I was pretty sure you were supposed to get hit with it.
