Ive had the whole SH’bang done. not pleasant. the mammo is what it is…the ultrasound is pretty cool. it is amazing what they see in there. my mom is a breast cancer survivor and in 2018 i discovered i had a mass and was invited to the high risk clinic and went through all kinds of happy stuff like MRIs and biopsies. Thank the lord it was not concerning for now but I would at least get your baseline to be sure there is nothing lurking. Mom waited 3 years between and got nailed. she beat it. that woman is going to live forever….breast cancer, heart attack, broke her shoulder and spent 4 months in rehab….she is battle tested.

not a big deal but it would be like the boys having their family jewels pressed between a dictionary and an encyclopedia…..now that is a picture!!!🤪
Congrats to your Mom

and :lau:gig:lau:gig:lau:gigfor that picture!

Diabetes runs in my family. My sister and I both deal with diabetes. Sister struggles to keep her weight above 110 and I struggled to keep mine below 150.
Her doctor sent her to a dietician and diabetes classes. Worked with her with different medications until they got the right fit.
My doctor met with me one time…introduced himself to me and introduced me to the PRN who met with me every three months. She looked over my meal charts, checked my A1c and reminded me to ā€œwatch what you eatā€. She was not open to discussing diet, new strategies, etc. Only changes to meds were increasing the insulin.

I chose to talk with my GP about my frustrations. He made some med changes and he will treat my diabetes from now on. I’ve met with a dietician, have discussed numerous topics and research. I’ve lost 15 pounds and am much more healthy. I am retaking control of the blood sugars and A1c is going down!

Many doctors medicate diabetes as a disease instead of educating to control diabetes as a condition. It is a huge money maker for pharmaceutical companies.
For example: My Tresiba insulin for 3 months costs $1,798.99 (90 days at 50 units a day Or $20 a shot)...weekly = $140.
I’m now down to 22 units of insulin a day so that same prescription covers 204 days at $8.80 per injection. But my second medicine Bydureon BCise runs $2,674.99 for 12 weekly shots at $222.92 per week. Total per week now is $284.52.

Pre-diabetics can be brought under control with diet changes and exercise.
Early diabetes can be better controlled with diet changes and exercise.
The body can correct the insulin production with proper diet and exercise.

It is much better to start in those early stages to get your diabetes (blood sugar) under control…be aggressive...demand information…learn to eat healthy and stay active.

Iā€˜ll step off my soapbox now.
@TheDawg Will never be able to afford he own place if she needs to stay on medication just to live.

I have the perfect doctor for me. He would not be the right doctor for many people.

I don’t think anybody can at those prices  over $4000!?!?!? For meds!?!?!  and that’s not even including rent/mortgage/whatever or any bills or anything  it’s no wonder I’ve read about so many people literally dying because they can’t afford their insulin 😭 this is exactly why I wanna try the diet stuff though so I don’t have to go on meds. I think it’s still possible.

As I understand type 2 is preventable. I don’t have anyone in my family who has it but my neighbor is a podiatrist and cuts off a lot of toes and feet. She tells me all the time what she tries to share with her patients to get healthy. Make no mistake, something is going to get us…but I want to go out like Bette White. She was a badass!

Going down to do upper body, core strength and 50 minute run. Get after it everyone!!

Yeah. And a lot of people just want to take the meds and still eat and live however they want to as well. 🤪
It just don't work that way very well.
