Here is another little conversation starter!

When you hear "Modern Art" what do you think of? What are your opinions on what people think of as art nowadays?

I would love to hear your opinions!!
I think of abstract art, mainly. I like some modern art, but a lot of it is just plain ridiculous. Is art supposed to confuse and frustrate people when they view it? I don't think so... 🤣

This may be a statement that upsets some people, but I don't see abstract art as art IMO.

There are so many people who spend DAYS working on art only to end up having no one like it. Then there are people who just throw paint on a canvas willy-nilly and sell is for $20 million.

I would like to know what I am looking at in art and see the skill and time put into it. Not think that I am in a kindergarten classroom after an arts & crafts day.

Artists who make actual poeces of art are put down and are always the broke ones. You see museums full of paint thrown on a canvas with the people like "Ohh I see the pain and heart break in this one. How much is it? $50,000,000,000? I'll take it!"

I call this one "Too Much Paint on Canvas and I Dropped It"

This one is "Incomplete" (This is selling for $100 🙄)

And this one, the highest form of art is "Kid's Toy Box"

Is it more decor to you maybe? Sometimes I like abstract art used as an accent piece in a room, for example.
I see abstract art as more of an art piece that someone would make if they wanted to make art but didn't have the drive to push the extra bit and make a real piece of art.

If I were to ever have abstract art as an accent piece to my room, I would make it myself and not waste money on something that a kid could make out of $5 Walmart paint and a $10 Walmart canvas.

I actually like the middle one the best. Not worth much more than the frame and canvas it's painted on, IMHO, and it has no meaning, but it would look great in a room with those colors. The last one is gross. 🤣
The first one really does look like someone dropped the canvas after blobbing too much paint.

The third one reminds me of a "The Blob" but make it 80s color scheme 🤣🤮
