Worse. I get tiny little flying bugs. The shed from the dog is pretty coarse hair (aussie) so it doesn't usually end up floating around on the air currents in the house. But those annoying little flies and moths invariably always land in a wet pour overnight, get trapped, then drag themselves over the canvas for several inches until they die and end up as part of the scenery.View attachment 3854283
I have a 5 month old aussie so he still has his puppy fur and that gets EVERYWHERE. Sometimes I find it in my mouth and I don't know how 😭

I guess the dead bugs decided to make your art 3D. I am happy to not have that problem because a dead bug is harder to hide than a hair in dried paint!

Also, I love your dark Cheshire Cat picture! I had drawn him a very long time ago and he looks so cool!

I was having a bad day yesterday, so I decided to go to my art area and paint to calm down. I decided to start on something that didn't require much thought because the paintung I am currently working on requires a good bit of detail, which equals thinking.

I started painting and the acrylic on the canvas started CRACKING on me! It seemed like nothing worked out for me yesterday. But the end of the day ended up becoming better.

Any tips on how to fix the cracking, or hide it? Please help!

Pictures? That has never happened to me. I wonder if it was applied too thickly on a loose canvas. I work in very thin layers with professional paints on good quality canvases. What brand paint and canvas are you using?

With acrylics, this tends to happen a couple of ways.

When you're using inexpensive paints which are super thin to start with and/or you thin good paint too much with water. There's not enough medium left to bind, and they crack as they dry. Apple Barrel white and black are NOTORIOUS for this.

The other way it happens is if you are seeing rapid changes in temp and humidity as it's drying. This causes the paint to try unevenly, especially if you're using a thick application or have several layers built up quickly. The temp/moisture change causes the layers to dry at different rates and crack.

Your best bet is to scrape and repaint that area, or if the cracks are fairly mild you can try covering them again and see if the new layer will fill the crack and cover it. It may just crack again, it's always kind of a roll of the dice unless you scrape and sand back to canvas, add new gesso, and build it back up. You started with a nice tight and gesso'd canvas right?

Make sure when you leave a piece for a bit that it's drying in an area where the temp and humidity are fairly constant and it's not getting left in the sunlight part of the day.

Thank you! I am actually using Apple Barrel, so that is good to know!

I am painting Mikasa from AOT, so I have decided to use the cracks tom make it seem like the walls are breaking behind her!

The paint is Apple Barrel, and I don't know about the canvas. I definitely don't have high quality stuff, but that is because I am still getting a grip on painting.

I have actually never had this happen before with my apple barrel paint, but I guess there is a first for everything.

Apple Barrel in general tends to be low quality cheap paint. So you definitely want to make sure you're using gesso under it and that you have a nicely stretched canvas to start. And never ever use their black or white! They're utter garbage. If you have a Michaels or Hobby Lobby close, their house brands are a decent step up in quality for just a little more money. I know not everyone has the budget to get heavily into good quality Golden or Liquitex, but man, investing in a few select colors is absolutely worth it.
