On a spur of the moment I was given 1/2fertile eggs to stick under my clucky chook, but when I went to stick them under her she decide she no longer wanted to sit.
I waited 5days hoping someone else might get broody No such luck so I decided to DIY an incubator. A little research here at BYC and various other sites lead me to one conclusion I need heat, humidity, cleanliness and a lot of egg turning.

At about day 12 Butterscotch b#&@ (she is the only chicken to have ever drawn blood on me)
she spent 24hrs sitting on a nest so I got terribly excited, it was short lived the next day she was happily grazing.
2days later however she got on the nest and didn't get off so i took the opportunity to stick the17 day old eggs under her.
At day 17 I candled and concluded 1 egg was infertile so 5 eggs went under mother hen and over 3 days 4 chicks popped out!

I'm sorry but I am so confused.

Do you have eggs in your bator now or did some hatch under a broody?
