1 Lonely Chick, all others died in shipment-what to do?

I ordered 7 chicks from My Pet Chicken and only one survived. Apparently the post office sent them to the wrong state and they stayed there for an entire day and night. Grrr...MPC is going to send replacement chicks, but not for another week or two at least.
Meanwhile, I have this very lonely chick that cries ALL the time, unless we are holding her or next to her. I've read about chickens being very social animals and I'm concerned for her. Any suggestions?

Can you get her a buddy from your local pet shop maybe? She will be happier with a chick friend. Sorry to hear about the losses

I had a lonely chick once too and I looked on craigslist and someone usually has some day olds for sale.

Thanks guys, I guess I was worried about the new germs from a different place. I suppose I'm going to be dealing with that anyhow, seeing as how they are going to ship me another batch (most likely from a different hatchery). Oh! I also had them vax'ed for Marek's, as I suspected it in my flock quite awhile back. Is there anywhere that I can get vax'ed chicks locally?

yes, you should go to a pet shop or craigs list, and get another chick, i also had problems with MPC, i ordered four, 2 died, i got a replacement 4, 2 died again, i just go to a local breeder for chicks the same age as mine now.
