1 week old today.

Here’s a pic of my week old babies and their two moms. They are out getting some sun today. 😉 I am keeping them in this little pen until my little ones get a little bit older and then I’m going to integrate them in with the rest of the chickens. My other chickens have a big open area and this little pen is inside of it so they are doing the look but don’t touch routine right now. My other chickens don’t seem phased by these babies at all.

What do y'all think about how I'm introducing the 1 week olds. I will need them to be intregated when the time is right. Months, weeks, days, hours I don't mind but, I've never done this before and I want to do this correctly and don't want the babies killed.

It's fine letting them have some early exposure. As far as integration, you can do early integration if you set up in mind for it. My current schedule is about 2 weeks of see but don't touch, then the chicks get to come out of the brooder into a fenced off portion of the run to explore for another week, and then on week 4 they finally get access to the rest of the run as well as the hens. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/short-on-time-recycle-a-prefab-brooder.73985/ Having plenty of space and clutter for safety is key.
