1 year old roo with 12 week old flock?

I'm considering getting a Polish bantam roo for my bantam flock, however the one I'm looking at is 1 year old and my flock is around 12 weeks. My instinct tells me this isn't a good idea. I'm still fairly new to this so opinions please!!

I wouldn't. He could bully them or try to mate and end up crushing the little ones. Try get one the same age or similar. I'm not an expert on this

Follow your instincts on this. It's possible things could work out fine but it's also possible things could go very wrong. To me it's not worth the risk. I'd wait until about half of the girls are laying eggs and then try.

You could always put him in a dog crate within their coop and some sort of run outside during the day so they can all see each other until they’re close to POL and will accept him. Sometimes more mature roosters know when females aren’t old enough for breeding and will leave them alone and sometimes they’re jerks.

Once your pullets have matured and reached laying age you can add a rooster.
