If it helps at all, I have had a hen with only one leg live a long, happy life after the loss of the other leg. So, assuming no infection sets in, she may be fine. *shrug*

OK..Charlotte absolutely broke her leg.....vet put her on BAYTRIL/GRENADINE 60MG....is is true we can never eat any of her eggs for her lifetime

Baytril has been banned for chickens in the US for many years, but is one of the best antibiotics available. However some vets need to prescribe something for the type of bacteria that may cause infection. When there is a risk of bone infection, it is best to use the best antibiotic to help prevent it. Most antibiotics are not approved for egg laying chickens, but many use them with an appropriate egg withdrawal time. vet wasnt in today, will call him tomorrow...wish i had asked yesterday when we were in the office to ask...i wouldve thought he would have said something to me..grrrrrr
