Hi Everyone,

I've decided my chicks are non-genders. Some act like roos but should be pullets..hmm..so, question of the day...how many roos do you see? I've included several pictures of the same chicks so you get different views.

#1 - a black star

#8 - You might not be able to tell anything about this one but I thought it was a cute pic

I think #4 could be a rooster, but its hard to tell from that picture. I don't think #2 is a roo; all my roos have much bigger combs and wattles and they are the same age. All the rest look like hens to me.

The one in #4 is also pictured in #5 and #8. This is my very vocal one -- I'm wondering if it is an alpha hen. It makes sounds but doesn't sound like cock-a-doddle..more like bawkkkk..bawk...bawk.. Since this is my first time having chickens that could be how then begin crowing..just now sure. I know it doesn't sound like the crowing I've heard on different you-tube videos.

A male Black Star would look like a Barred Rock, not colored like those pics. Those are hens. If those are red sexlinks in the other pics, they are hens, too. Males would be mostly white with red in the pyle areas.

pullets. the red chick with white tail feathers is a golden comet. I have read they are grest laying hen.
