10 day old silkie chick help

Did you look at the link on cerebral hernia ? This is more likely to be something to do with the vaulted skull.

I finally found it. My eyes read cerebral hernia but my brain kept looking for cerebral hemorrhage! Today is not my best day lol

I read it but it just seems like his symptoms don't really fit anything. He doesn't lose his balance at all. Just does the head twitch. We are keeping a much closer eye on them now and will make sure to take them outside, where it is much cooler than inside, around 1 pm when it seems to be the hottest inside. I'll take more video and see if I can catch him doing it in a "natural" setting.

Lol , that's because I originally typed hemorrhage , my mistake not yours. Yes a clip where it is just walking and eating would be more telling. Most of mine thrash their heads around when being ' force fed '.

Neighbor said his outside temp monitor said it was 100 today and in the mid 90's day before.

Here is video of him. He does it as soon as I start to video and then several more times. Excuse my baby voice talk to them but it's how I teach them to come to me. Usually I give them treats as I'm saying it.

I think I would suspect encephalomalacia or wry neck, which is a vitamin E and selenium deficiency. The link you had earlier is good with drug dosages, but here are 2 more that explain the condition:

So is the chick boost is not enough Vit E and it does not have any selenium. ack! I am horrible in math I tried to figure out this dosing but it's like ancient Greek and it makes no sense to me!

Tell me how much you chick weighs and I'll tell you how much it needs.

Thank you! I've been trying to figure it out and well it's not going well. I have to get a scale tomorrow. I'll post as soon as I know. Should I weigh all of them or just the one who is twitchy?

I'm a bit confused as well. Am I suppose to buy Vit E supplements and the other one or just do the baby vitamins without Iron? Still get the nurtidrench or go with the sav-a-chick, or get all of them?

If you can, get a scale that weighs in grams *or* pounds. Weighing in grams makes calculating doses soooooooooo much easier. On the box it should say something like weighs 1 to 5000 grams.

Mine can weigh chicks even smaller than this:

Or bigger ones like this:
