10+ New Hampshire hatching eggs

Wanna hear a funny story?

I hatch every week. My schedule is to hatch on Sundays or Mondays, so I can ship out on Mondays and Tuesdays. Well, last Sunday when I hatched (Delawares and project chicks), I thought this one chick was a little darker than my usual Delawares. I mark the eggs, "Del," for Delaware, and "2" for pen #2 which is the project birds (BR x NH). Project chicks hatch out barred. I have hatched around 100 of them.

Jan 29 I changed cockerels; took the BR out and moved the NH in with his NH girls. I set these eggs on Jan 31 and hatched Feb 21.

Guess what I hatched? A PURE NEW HAMPSHIRE! My first New Hampshire chick!

Today I am hatching. I watched as the first chick hatched from the egg with a "2" on it. Yellow? What? Projects should all be barred. THEN I REALIZED!

Well, you know what that means, don't ya? It means it is very likely that all those "2" eggs I have in the Sportsman will hatch out as New Hampshires instead of barred project chicks.

I have enough project chicks, but I just kept putting the eggs in the bator. I knew it would be easy to know the difference .... barred = project, light color = New Hampshires. I just wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly! I think I have about 3 dozen in the incubator and 1 dozen in the hatcher now. I imagine I will get a few of each.

Gosh I know someone who would buy a couple of those NH chicks from you.........ME!!! And about a couple hundred other people I would imagine!

Cute, cute, cute. Kathy, just keep hatching away there will be a long line waiting for your chicks and eggs. I'll just keep dreaming of one day owning a KathyMo chick or egg. I am putting this on my bucket list
