I’m curious as well. Wanted to repost and get more options. Been doing Corid drench the last 4 days. Hasn’t eaten in 5 or so days. I’ve lost track. He’s dying. Weak shaking etc. yesterday was a good day. I worked a 12 hr shift and came home today and he’s pretty weak. If I try to tube feed with a hard rock crop what will happen? He’s sorta shedding and his feathers are breaking. I treated for mites last week and the week before. Please help. I have my husband with me for assistance. I need to get some food in him and maybe he will perk up.
@casportpony Can you please help here.

Has his crop emptied?
I think it is time to tube feed him if he hasn't eating for that many days.
What did you use (and how did you use it) to treat for the mites?

If he has food in his crop that is not digesting tubing fluids to him will probably help in getting stuff moving again. If a bird or animal is dehydrated their intestines basically stop moving food. For him I would tube 2 ml per 100 grams of body weight, wait 60-90 minutes and repeat if liquid had cleared crop.

Just gave 3 ml of the kaytee formula because I finally had my husband to help me. I’m worried it’s too late but I’ll do the best I can while he’s still with us. Hard crop, his eyes closed when we started doing it. He’s exhausted I assume. He wouldn’t take any water after. Hard boiling eggs to offer for the night. When should I feed via syringe again? Will try to get a real gtube tomorrow. Because it’s safer but unfortunately will still require 2 people to do safely. Pray for this guy. Today I was cautiously optimistic but coming home today I’ve come to terms that he’s going down hill fast.

@casportpony ill be honest Im not sure what the crop is supposed to feel like since these are my first baby chicks. But it’s a hard lump. When they are babies it was soft and felt like food in there. It’s hard and I have been massaging it I had my husband hold him so I could look at it more but doesn’t feel right. @KikisGirls said it’s normal for the crop to get hard when they are sick so I just massaged when I check on him. I can’t feel anything squishy after feeding.

I realize that picture isn’t very helpful but I figure that should be the area it should be in and maybe I’m just feeling trachea? I feel very stupid right now but I’m in panic mode and completely exhausted

Yeah I’m not feeling anything but a hard protrusion. Watched a you tube video about it. I feel like I need to let him rest. Good news is I made some egg yokes w formula and and he ate some. I’ll try to feed again w syringe and let you know if I feel anything. Other then food and water and rest anything to look for? Poop still liquid clear white. I work 12hrs again tomorrow. Should I attempt to syringe feed alone or would it be better to wait and leave food out. I’ve stopped proof reading my responses I apologize I’m struggling like my little chick tonight

No...
It's not normal for the crop to get hard when birds are sick.

The crop is on the left side when looking at the bird.
His right front side.

I can't help with telling you how to syringe feed him.
I think tubing is safer.
Are you sure you are syringing it in the right pace in his mouth?
