Hi There, I just got this trio today and they're gorgeous. They are Columbian cochin bantams. I haven't been around pullets and cockerals since I was a kid and can't remember how they were.

The cockeral is stepping all over the pullets, biting their combs and pecking them hard on their heads and tails. He's even biting feathers off.

I'm thinking he's just figuring stuff out and is a little rough -typical eager youngin:) But the girls are real upset. I separated them for tonight til I can get some info. Could this get really bad? Will he hurt them?? Thanks, Erin

Where are you keeping them? By that I mean how big is the coop or brooder or? sounds like they could be lacking in space.... perhaps?

This scares me...I'm planning on having a trio of black cochins and I HOPE this is not normal behavior. I hope your male cools off a bit. Maybe they don't have enough space? I know they will peck if they don't have enough room to roam and scratch.
