I had a 7 or 8 year old suddenly start laying well again. What had happened, I had introduced a few pullets and one ended up being what I call a "he-she." Was absolutely a hen but when around a year old, looked and acted like a rooster. No spurs, but just acted like a guy and not a nice one. And was incredibly mean to her and the others as well. Finally I had to have her.. um.. removed as she was just too rough. I wasn't going to have any more bloody combs from this jerk. After a couple months, the old girl started squatting(!) for me like she hadn't done in years and laying very well after not laying much of anything for a long time. I was amazed. I told myself "this is what relief must look like."
