100+ Coturnix Eggs in the bator Mar 25th

most of my outsidies are 4 months old, (they turned mature when it was getting too cold and too dark for them to go into breeding mode so this is their first time....they're probably the oldest quail in the US to mature hahah...

First off, i would like to introduce myself, my name is Jason and i live in CA. I currently raise ornamental wildfowl and after doing a lot of "closet" reading about Coturnix i decided to purchase some eggs off of eggbid, infact they are from PA, which seems to be the Coturnix capital of the USA!LOL

Monarc23, your tutorial on Coturnix was some of the best reading i have found on the birds, thank you very much!! It has and will be a big help for me in raising my quail, which are due to hatch this Sunday! Out of 120 eggs i received through the mail, it looks as though i may have a good hatch coming. I only had 8 eggs that were "green" when i candled them, the rest are solid, atleast as far as i can tell, they definitley dont candle as easy as chicken eggs!!

Well, i will be moving them into the hatcher tomorrow, wish me luck and i will keep you posted! And thanks again for all the helpful information you have fed our minds with!!.........Jason

This just made my night! It makes me SOO happy to know that something I did is helping so many people! I had no idea when I put it together the kind of helpit would bring. I AM so happy that some are getting into coturnix just because of my tutorial! I really am passionate about this species and I know before I knew about them i had no idea quail could be so fun and benifitial. Mini chickens for sure!

If you dont mind me asking did you get your eggs from a woman named Angie? IF so that's who i got these from, and she's where I got most of my main adult stock from!

I love her birds and plan to be a repeat buyer when I need new blood (as she's always getting more it seems why order from afar when I can order good stuff from her ya know)!

Monarc23,

That would be her, Angela! I swear you could have dropped the box of quail eggs she shipped me off a building and they would survive, i had only one broken egg out of 120, not bad considering it went from East Coast to the West Coast!!

She must have quite a collection of quail, have you been to her place? It must be amazing with all the pens!

Well, take care and if you talk to Angela, let her know the guy in CA is very happy with her shipping strategy!...........Jason

Just found this post! Soo many eggs! I hope you get a great outcome!
I forgot to PM you! So sorry! My mind has been everywhere lately.

I have to agree with Jason, I've visited your website quite a bit so far, and your BYC page very often, I love the hands on information and examples you have posted.

Oh that's okay! i actually should have emailed you back. I've decided to atleast for now, not to ship birds. It's so scary. I experenced getting my first birds in the mail yesterday and it traumatized me, i'd never want someone to get birds from me in the mail and them either get lost or dead upon arrival just makes me so scared so for now i have no guts to ship birdies but maybe in the future LOL
