10x10 run plans?

What would you do instead of roofing? let it be open top and the weather can just come on in?

I have netting due to hawk predation. Probably hard to see from the angle of my photo above, but more obvious from this angle:

Depends a lot on your climate. I have to have shade for my chickens because it's very hot here in the summer. The tarps keep most of the rain out, but they go out into the chicken yard (which is open) in the rain all the time. Unless it's torrential, they prefer to be out. And it doesn't snow much here. When it does, they don't mind that, either.

I like the set up you have. What size is your run? Mine is 16 x 12. I have another 500 sq ft beyond it that I call the chicken yard. I'd love something more like what you've got.

It's a total of (roughly) 20x25. One half is 10x20, the other half where the coop sits is 15x20. I do like having the fence and gate splitting the halves - makes it very handy for cleaning or maintenance to be able to put the chickens in one side or another. But I regret not springing for a 6' fence all the way around... originally, I had my veggie garden in the 4' side. And "only" 3 chickens. :)

I snagged the pic for future reference. I may copy... er... pay homage to your design.

So my fiancé and I decided to get some chicks from our local farm store, back in August and by September I began the construction of my chicken compound... this is basically where I’m at...So let me know if your interested in older more detailed pics of the construction project. 😊

It’s been fun building and working around the chickens. They keep me company as I build onto their homes. I didn’t have plans but I did put some thought into a proper shopping list before I started. Your skill level and your budget will guild you, just don’t forget to enjoy yourself :)

We used an old/free carport frame for the run frame. We then attached chainlink around the frame. Above the chainlink (space between the chain link and the roof) is wire. We then put purlins on, and topped with metal roofing. We have to have a roof with slope to shed the snow load.

We have resisted the netting. But I now see this picture and think maybe, we could restructure the less secure run to include a net to prevent the hawks from attacking. Not that it is a guarantee, but could slow them down.
