11 wild turkey eggs.....

I would keep them in the bator and call a wildlife rehab. We got 6 eggs last year and released 6 beautiful young turkeys back into the wild. It was a joy. Most DNR officers are to busy to deal with these things and will destory the eggs and that would be plain sad.

I flushed three seperate Eastern wild hens off nests during the past two weeks while turkey hunting. I called the retired IDNR turkey biologist and was told that 3 out of 4 wild turkey hens will abandon their nests if flushed from their nest so there is no way that wild hen is going back to that nest after being nearly bushhogged.

Still it is illegal in almost every state to remove wild turkey eggs or young from the wild and have them in possession.

I called and left a message. I hope they will want to do this! I sure don't want them, but the man was kinda upset about destroying the nest. I already have 4 baby turkeys.

Every state is different the first thing I would do is find out your state rules. There are great classes offered through IWRC most states require you take one before anything else.

It is one of the biggest joys in my life. It also comes with heartache and tears. For me the release of a happy healthy animal makes it all worth it!

I think I will enjoy it. I know it will not be easy, but well worht the effort! There was a baby deer standing on the side of the road last year, I would have loved to foster it! We got it help, but I wanted to help it!LOL:hit
