Ended 11th Annual 2020 New Years Day Hatch-along!

I am sorry! Can you get him a mirror?
his brooder is next to my button/finch cage....i’m considering adding a smaller button, but if he continues being “content” by being close, I contemplated handling him more to tame him into being a “house quail”.....i’ve raised loner chicks chicks in the past with stuffed animals and had very good success (with the exception of predator attacks once they were integrated into aviary).

Two is good! One hatched is sad because of the lonely chick.

Congratulations!

Yes I was worried I might end up with one and hoping I’d be able to find someone else in the area who’d happen to have a chick they’d sell me to keep it company.

I did have to give one of them a little tlc this afternoon, but it seems to have perked right up and now they are settled for the night in my tack room.

They are cute!

The first three days are critical for them. If they make it three days they are usually good to go!
