Bantam Silkie Cochin?! *goes to google to look up pictures* didn’t even know that was a thing! Oh no... I have the means to make standard ones 🤔 😂

Are they a project of yours, or did you purchase eggs? (I’m sure you mentioned it somewhere on the thread, but it moves so fast I probably wouldn’t be able to find it lol). I’d love to see pictures!

Sure! This is the breeders picture. They're actually not a cross. They're 100% Bantam Cochins that have barbless feathers. Not my breeding group. They're from a family friend of mine. This was my first time hatching eggs from her flocks. I'm having ok results!
I started with 12 of the Bantam Silkied Cochins and had 3 infertile and 3 quitters. Hoping the rest hatch! :fl

They look like they went in the dryer 🤣 They are too funny and cute looking.

Decided to keep myself busy with household chores. As much as I want to sit right next to my incubator all day that will just not be smart since I will want to candle one.

It’s funny the medium dark ones I couldn't see anything, but the light ones and the darkest ones I could. What’s with these medium dark olive eggs.

Last fall power company turned power off due to the high winds and fire safety. Four days without power. Had generators running, for the house of course. :lau
The eggs had nothing to do with running the generators nope not all.
Hope your power stays on and chicks stay warm in their shipping.
I hope we do not have too much of that this year!

In lockdown, now, waiting for the weekend. I've still got three going, but I'm not too sure about one of them. Still, at this late stage, I'll let it go the last couple of days without pulling it. I guess I'll know, soon enough, right? I was REALLY good about leaving them alone, this time. With all the nastiness going on, and even with washing my hands a bazillion times, I was afraid to keep touching my little egglets, so I didn't candle as often as I usually do. So ... this time it'll be a surprise. Actually, it'll be a bigger surprise than usual, because I added a few extras two days later. We'll just have to see how things go ...
I HATE the waiting game, especially since "lockdown" applies to both eggs and hoomans, this time!! :fl
I hope they do surprise you!

Well I was going to actually take the egg I was questioning out to take a closer look but just like that I have 3 external pips so no more opening to peek!

It is always nice to see the pips. Pips equals hatched chicks and an incubation that went well

How do you guys know if a chick is dead inside of the egg? Are there still veins if its dead?
When candling you will often see veins when candling from the big end. You may also wee an internal pip or even a chicks head in the air cell.

If you chirp at the egg it will often chirp back and tapping can get the chick to chirp too. These are signs of life at the end of a hatch
