I set up my new IncuView incubator yesterday and I have some questions about temperature. The temperature is set at 99.5 and I have two small thermometers inside that I have been moving around to check the temperature in different spots. It varies quite a bit, depending on where I place the thermometers. The lowest reading has been 98.4 and the highest has been 100.4. Is this a normal range inside of an incubator? Should I leave it set at 99.5, or change it?Since there are cooler spots and warmer spots, should I be moving the eggs around to a different place every time I need to open the incubator for other reasons?

I have found this to be the case in my IncuView as well and I do rotate my eggs to make up for the temperature variation in the incubator. It's one of my biggest complaints with the IncuView but it's pretty standard in many incubators unless they have a turner that goes all the way around the incubator. Other than being a bit dryer than my other incubators the IncuView is still one of my favorites. Good luck on your hatch!

EDIT to add, yes I would leave it at 99.5°F unless you find that it's predominantly low in most spots. I mapped out the entire incubator and I do have a corner that occasionally drops to around 98.9 and another corner that gets as high as 101.2 but most of the incubator reads at 99.5 to 100.

Have been fiddling with the thermostat on the little incubator I have in order to get the temp to 99.5. It is set in celsius so learning the conversion.
The amount of water they say to put in caused the humidity to spike to 82%. It's down to 67% now. Glad I started figuring this stuff out a little early. I keep telling myself "if a hen can do this, surely I can" ;)

I'm so ashamed of myself

...I have no control over my own actions...I put the eggs in the incubators tonight.
Tucked them right in around the other eggs I have set. ZERO self control today people. This is what quarantine has done to me! lol

Welcome aboard! What kind of eggs will you be setting? Don't forget to send a message to casportpony with the number of eggs you're setting.
Thanks for letting me know to send a message to casportpony. I'm setting 20 eggs. 6 are from my only 2 Polish both are Tolbunt one is a Frizzle. 6 are silkie eggs, 2 are nice looking green eggs(Probably my cream legbar), 1 is a blue egg (probably EE) 5 brown eggs one of which is from my Turken. Possible rooster dads are 1 paint silkie, 1 appenzeller spitzhauben, 1 Easter egger and 1 EE x Spitzhauben.

I work in a school as a para and my students will follow along remotely! It's my work from home project.
