12 week old Lavender Orpington gender?

What did this chick turn out to be? I’m having the EXACT same issue with one of my lavs. Only roo characteristic is red comb and wattles. But it’s only 10 weeks old. Curious about your little one. I know lavs have a reputation for waiting a long time before letting us know what they are lol.

Take some photos and post a thread! If you have more than one Lavender Orpington take a few pictures of one of the others for comparison, it makes it much easier!

Ok, my two lavs are 10 weeks old. One sprouted (first two pics) and tripled in size and feathered super fast at about 5 weeks. Fairly certain she’s a pullet after thinking she was a cockerel from being so gigantic but her comb and wattle have stayed pink. BUT! Very thick legs. If this is a hen she’s going to be massive.

The second one (pics 3&4) has been petite and slow to feather and recently exploded a comb and wattle within the last two weeks. This one is becoming more boisterous in the last week too. Skinnier legs than the gargantuan sibling it has.

Their tails seem to be different and I’m watching for saddle feathers like a crazy chicken mom.

These orps have thrown me for a loop with their mixed up characteristics lol.

Why can’t I just be patient .

I think your smaller one with the large combs and wattles is a cockerel. Larger one looks like a pullet. It is really hard to be patient, totally understand that. Don't stress yourself out looking for male feathering yet, you probably have at least 2-4 more weeks to wait.

Thanks for your feedback. That’s where I’m at right now too. I can have roosters where I’m at but I also have a rooster d’uccle and not sure how they’ll get along. Plus I only have a total of 8 and two roosters might be too much for them. Guess I’ll just have to play things by ear. So far both lavs are super docile.

Lou turned out to be a male! A beautiful male at that. He and my other lav orp, Rose, were like two peas in a pod. It was really cute. However, I am saddened to say that he got too aggressive and we had to get rid of him earlier this month. He started attacking random visitors to our house and had a certain penchant for my husband.... chasing him around the yard every chance he got. For some reason, he would only mate with 2 or 3 of the other girls, and once they started getting really barebacked, we realized that he was not only a liability for us, he was also making the other girls lives more difficult too. I do have a couple pics we took before the end. I will try to get pictures posted ASAP!
