Can I add more to the incubator? Didn't think I was suppose to do that?! :fl
Yes! It’s called staggered hatching. It’s fun if you forget to mark the new eggs, or don’t write down when you put them in. However, hatch days aren’t set in stone, so you can have the later set hatch with the earlier set. Or, vice versa.

Hey there, happy hatch-er's! :frow

I wasn't sure earlier if I would be able to join in this round of adventures.. since uhm.. the bator is always full.

And it was incredibly difficult to delay setting until tomorrow in order to save space in the incubator.. which also happens to age the eggs JUST a little more than desired.. But.. with 15 in the hatcher now plus I had two blanks candled today so.. . I *might* actually have room for up to 20 eggs! :wee

Will count my available spaces, ready my eggs, and report/check back with y'all rowdy, yet patient, and hopeful peeps sometime in the near future.. so that's loud and clear.. I'm ALL IN, thank for the invite! :bun

Couple more guess the number contest suggestions..

Guess how many participating (households/BYC members) in THIS contest total?

What is the maximum number of INCUBATORS running in an individual household during THIS contest?

The maximum # of eggs set by a BYC household/individual JUST for THIS hatch-along. The same for max hatched by an individual..

:pop
I only have three electric incubators, but the coop is full of the natural ones.
You know, you could always stack eggs, and hand turn them to be sure all available space is used. :thumbsup

Oh! I'll see if I can find more, 6 hours of driving to find 1 dozen so I'm not holding my breath. Thank u!!

Oh gosh.. that blew my mind for a moment. I was leaping for joy, lol! Then I wasn't sure if it was informative or shocking but shocking is a funner reaction for the big child in me even though it was both. Now my wheels are turning! :lau

Can you stack them for hatching too?! I should have known better than to join a hatch along. Talk about enablers!

The Janoel 12 is currently holding 15 large fowl eggs, (used only for rolling hatches) There's room for a few more..

I keep opening the lid several times per day to exchange air because I'm concerned about the actual available oxygen/gas exchange.. Last one hatched 12/15 chicks.. I kept sneaking the egg shells out by cracking the lid enough to get my fingers in.. as I was concerned about space.. etc, etc..

But.. all in.. hmm.. I could set everything.. and let my bigger bator (genesis 1588) run THIS set for the full 3 weeks all the way through Easter hatch.. maybe slow my roll a little.. by setting more eggs than I can fit... ah hah.. you CAN'T make this stuff up! :smack

Gotta go start my planing now and see what comes out of the lay boxes! :jumpy:jumpy

We don’t enable, we help! 😇
Most people find that they have to pull enough clears and quitters before lockdown. However, they can still hatch stacked within reason.

Which is what I was thinking as well
All thing to and from MY location get a 7 hour truck ride north of SFX regardless of whether shipped air or ground.. Shipped by air, often miss the midnight hand off in SF, and delays to delivery to MY location (north of Eureka) an extra day. Bumpiness definitely effects Haugh unit, etc inside the egg. So do temperatures and age of course.

Getting familiar with one's own route (or the origin/destined route) CAN be helpful at times! :)

I had a bunch of chicks from McMurray hatcheries die at the SF PO Center-- They were kept outside overnight in a truck in February.
