Wow! And nail polish is genius...what is gunmetal? Just the brand or is it the only type pf nail polish that will work to seal up cracked eggs?A little bit early lockdown over here because some of the development is looking pretty far along. I still can't believe all 22 eggs are viable and made it to lockdown!

With the precautions you've taken, I would say definitely.I have 9 egg in the incubator and today is day 20. My neighbors (including me) had a power outage today for 3+ hours. So, I covered my incubator with several blankets. Also, I boiled some water on a gas stove, poured the water in two jars and put them in the incubator. I left a small portion open for air ventilation. My question is - Will the eggs survive? @MGG @JaeG @BullChick @WVduckchick @CluckNDoodle @ronott1 and everyone else.
X2. Its as if they're already outside of the egg. I've had power outages for more than 5 hours and almost every little guy I had incubating stayed alive. This was on day 18 with ducksThey should be fine - it takes a long time for the core temperature of the egg to fall enough to kill the chick/duckling and by day 20 they are generating a bit of heat for themselves as well.
AwwwI had 9 barnyard mixes go into lockdown. 8 hatched.. They're little chipmunks! The gal thinks some are EE'S. Came from brown eggs, but I do see some green in a couple of them...thier legs/feet..so it's a possibility I'll get a blue/green egg, or olive egg. Two look to be Barred Rock mixes. I'm on day 22 for some, day 18 for others. The day 18 ones were the ones I set on March 6 (the mallard derived duck day for the EHAL), for those of you who don't want to do the math. If this isn't considered chicken math, by the way, I wonder if it's called chick math...I candled again today, too.I just can't contain my excitement!
. All 32 are doing great
That's great. Fun to see, ey?I finished candling the shipped eggs from Gypsy Hen! I was able to clearly see the developing chicks, clears, and quitters in both the Marans and Ameraucanas! I was bummed to see so many early quitters even though these were shipped eggs because the air cells looked really good but most of them are looking good! Fingers crossed for the rest!
Thank you! With the precautions you've taken, I would say definitely.
