As a young duckling, a Muscovy was given a waning peck on the head by the full sized Pekin drake. That tiny little Muscovy went after the Pekin. I don’t want Muscovy again.

As others already mentioned it can take up to 24 hours for the chicks to start zipping after external pip. Is the membrane a dark brown color?

The membranes are getting darker, but both chics have started to create larger openings. I can see lots of movement. They are still chirping.

They have claws!!!

Yes Muscovy have sharp toenails which they can use to climb up fences and trees. Sort of like cat claws. Sometimes I take a toenail clipper and remove just the tips so they don’t scratch me when I pick them up

we got a pip!! I even heard it break through the shell while I was sitting next to the incubator!

Second pip is soon to hatch here. They coming so early! The other I expect to be a few hours after the rest as I placed it a few hours after the original noon timeline

Sadly my wrong end pip died in the night. Day 21 today but no more pips yet. Hope these chicks get busy soon!

Sorry you lost one Honora.. I have 1 pip on day 20.. Wrong ender too. I'm just being patient and letting nature take it's course.

The second one was out before midnight. It’s a girl. No action yet in the other three.
