I have a total of 24 chicks!

My New Nurture Right 360 hatched 21 chicks out of 22 Eggs

Then my old incubator I got 3 chicks out of 10 eggs. It's Day 22 but I doubt the remaining ones will hatch
- some of the duds were refrigerated eggs so I'm assuming that's why they didn't hatch. It was kind of an experiment to see if they would hatch, some have said they had success. Not me apparently -

I have 2 hens sharing my Easter hatch-a-long chicks. The 2 hens are OK, but I know Cookie could have done it all by herself.

I LOVE THEM!!! That is so cute! I need some tiny broody hens. I love how the chicks are always overflowing under them.

Thank you! Baby has pipped. The first chick then somehow managed to take perfect aim, and pooped directly onto the pip. Poor hatcher, cleaned it off as well as I could immediately, saw it happen thankfully. Ugh, chicks. So cute, yet so gross.

I'm still waiting on the last stragglers to hatch today. However I had two eggs hatch that were bloody (blood showed up on the paper towels under the eggs). I don't know which chicks they were so obviously they're ok now, but why could that happen?

I wouldn't say that seeing blood is "normal" but occasionally you will have a chick that has some bleeding from the umbilicus cord after hatch. It doesn't always release perfectly clean from the shell and if there is a lot of tugging on the navel from dragging the shell, or some blood still remaining once it breaks there can be some minor bleeding. Since your chicks all look fine now I though think it was probably something like this. If you see blood inside a shell it could be from pipping through a blood vessel.

I've had a couple hatch and the rest are on lockdown.
I removed some eggs last night, mostly from this group. I do it differently, I don't aim for a high percentage hatch. I still have many of my original birds and hatches from 2015 to 2017. Divorce might be imminent. The group due to hatch on the 20th is going strong. Of the 6 chicks hatched so far this year...4 were breech, 3 required assistance. It's rare for me to have breech chicks.

Baby just hatched! Alive and well. So, placed 3 eggs, 1 late quitter and 2 hatched. My worst hatch rate to date! This is why you place a load of eggs thank you guys! I loved being part of the hatch-along!

Oh dear. My broody hen hatched 8, then took the kids out of the nest box. One egg remained, and when I grabbed it, I realized it’s a DUCK egg! She probably wondered why it was taking so long
Anyway, she hatched 8 of her own.
