12wk Barred Rocks - Pullet or Cockerel?

Those pictured are cockerels.

With single combed birds there will be no red what so ever in the comb of pullets before point of lay age. So if all the birds are 12-16 weeks of age any you see with red combs are cockerels. It would be really easy to pick out the pullets at this age simply on comb color.

I'll add to the are they Barred Rock question. Yes, yes they are. The dark wash on Barred Rock legs is on pullets only and can be dusky to dark, the dark not to standard but does occur. The males legs will be light to bright yellow. The bright yellow being the standard. Cuckoo pattern is not as crisp as barred. The barring is clean for hatchery stock and certainly not cuckoo. Marans have white legs and though these legs are pale in photo they are decidedly yellow. No doubt they are hatchery Barred Plymouth Rock cockerels.

The body shape and the pattern doesn’t look like any baFred rocks I’ve seen or the one I have. My hands have gotten red combs or at least turning a very good red before laying age but not quite that bright. Personally I think their Cockerel. I’m not the best at picking genders that young but that’s my personal opinion

I'm going to agree with @drumstick diva on this one and say black sex link cockerels. Definitely not barred rocks.
Also, @Rachel Taylor the feathers your looking for look like these... OP, this is what your looking for.

I've gone back and looked at the photos again this morning and I agree they seem to be barred rock bantam cockerals. They have beautiful barring very nice and crisp.

That's something I've seen from photos(not personal experience) hatchery barred rock bantams seem to have nicer barring than their large fowl counterparts.

They are pretty birds. I could understand not wanting to take the risk I wouldn’t either because it is very hard to rehome a rooster sometimes
