Hi, one of my hens (which is a pbr) has always had a crooked head (not full stargazing). She has had this issue ever since she was about 2 weeks old. I posted about it in a fourm and everyone said it was just her crop. This chicken of mine has had both a crow and a rat attack, but I do not think that that is the culpret to her neck issues since she had the issue before getting attack. Currently, she keeps her head to the side of her body and a lot of times flips her head upside down and loses balance. Though she can eat and drink. I am giving her 3 pills of vitamin E a day, all at different times a day. Will be be able to be cured since we didnt start vitamin E until she was about 12 weeks? Will we have to do anything extra? Thanks. I can post a photo of my baby in the morning :)

Photos will be helpful.

Wry Neck is a neurological symptom of head injury/trauma, certain diseases and vitamin/nutritional deficiencies.

Provide her with 400IU of Vitamin E daily along with Vitamin B (a crushed up B-Complex tab added to her feed daily). Selenium helps the body absorb Vitamin E so offer egg or tuna in addition to her chick starter.

There's no way to know if vitamin treatment will cure her. Wry Neck can be difficult to overcome, so they only thing you can do it to continue to offer supportive care.

If you happen to lose her, consider sending her for necropsy to rule out diseases like Marek's, Avian Lymphoid Leukosis and Newcastles).

I hope she recovers soon, keep us posted.
