Should use distilled if possible but the others will work in a pinch and filtered is better than tap but I would let it warm to room temp before adding if out of the fridge
We use warmish well water from the tap. I'm sure distilled is better, but always heard to use warmed water and never figured out a good way to warm it up a bit. Our house is in the 60s usually.

Distilled would be best.

From Brinsea:
"The Water
We always recommend using distilled water in your incubator. Distilled water is free of contaminants and it prevents mineral deposits in the incubators. Such deposits allow bacteria to grow. Distilled water can also help to extend the life of the silicone tubing, which is important if you are using an Advance Humidity Pump or an EX model incubator. "

Even more important to use distilled for brinsea owners, I'd say. They wouldn't honor their warranty on a bad unit that was just a few months old and only attempted to use for two incubations because I don't use distilled water in mine.

I have Bobwhite quail in the incubator since Friday!!!!
They roll down the row with turning because of the odd shape 🤪

So I have a Dottie that has taken up residence in a nesting box, this is the second day. I don't think it will make the hatch date,, but when is the right time to slide a few eggs that aren't hers under her? And does this mean I may be able to add the 15 chicks that are arriving around the 20th to her brood?
You want to add eggs under her that are at the same point of incubation.

So really once she starts to set, mark those, add as many as you want, and then call it good.

As to brooding more chicks, completely depends in the hen. Some will mother any chick at any time.... and others...will not. :idunno
