Oh Man!! I want to be home... keep us posted... I will be thinking good thoughts for your babies

the waiting is so hard!!!!! how long from pip to hatch? still peeping and rocking around but no more movement since the little crack (that's the pip right?)
my 6 year old jumped up on the counter to tell the eggs good night. and accidentally crashed into the incubator and rocked all the eggs. i opened it just for a second to scoot one that was touching another. sure hope it didn't cause any damage.
still peeping since the incident.

It can take 24 hours or longer for some chicks to go from pip to hatch. I understand your pain as I am in the same situation at the moment. I am on day 20 and have a pip that I have been watching all day. Yes the little crack is the pip. #1 rule, don't open the incubator unless there is an emergency during lockdown. The rush of air can shrink wrap a chick in a matter of a couple of minutes. If your humidity stayed steady I am sure you are fine. I have a 7 year old that I have caught several times trying to go to the incubator. I cringe every time she does. At least if I am with her I can keep her from touching the incubator.

With any luck, you will wake to a new born chick tomorrow.

thanks. the egg that had pipped is still peeping and rocking an hour later. does that mean we have avoided shrink wrapping?
do i leave that chick in until the others have hatched? i'm nervous it will flap up and get hurt on the heating element. but if i open to remove it the others might be damaged?

my two year old pushed it open today too just for a second.

incubating + children = hazard.

i love hearing it peeping.

I'm hearing peeping and seeing rocking too... This is so exciting and nerveracking...
Its like Christmas... Waiting...

first chick here!!! peeping like crazy... driving my dog nuts, the dog is what woke us up. the chick is flopping around crashing into all the eggs. still completely wet.

i'm never gonna get back to sleep now.

3 chicks!!! i did pull them out once they were up and walking around. their little heads bump the heating element in the bator. i can't tell if any of the others are pipping... they are getting moved around so much by the hatchlings.
