14 week cockerel mating with stuffed animal??

It’s fine. I guess it could be bad if you want fertilized eggs as early as possible. Other than that I can’t think of any reason this behavior would be harmful.
nope! as much as i think sophie x george chicks would be the cutest combination of crosses since they’re both absolute angels, i don’t want to incubate again and apparently leghorns don’t have the temperament for it 😂 maybe someday i can sneak a sophie egg under one of my future hens-gone-broody

Roosters, especially cockerels, can get a bit....overenthusiastic. I've heard stories of them trying mating with feet, with corn cobs, with tv remotes.....it's perfectly normal and isn't an issue. If both chickens are happy together, I see no need to separate them. If you see your cockerel become aggressive with your pullet I'd separate them, and if you have issues with overmating, I would get her a saddle. Normally you could just rehome a problem cockerel, but until you can get Sophie some more company you should keep him.

Any port in a storm as my father used to say.

yes i think they cuddle and play too much to separate them based on their current behavior. sophie goes wherever he goes! she even ran up to him when he was getting intimate with the dino to see if he was having fun or found a treat without her 😳
but definitely will do my best to ensure he doesn’t need to be rehomed (as long as everyone is safe) since he’s my baby!
i’m going to order a saddle or two since she’s quite small still just to have it ready in case george and mr dinosaur breakup.

I have friend that has a rooster that uses a half inflated basketball of all things.
He should be fine and he will still have a job as leader and protector even if his lover is a stuffed animal 🤣
you know, it’s not something you expect for your kid but i’ll still love him regardless of who he loves, dinosaur or chicken 🤣

well, george outgrew the dinosaur and a stuffed dog i gave him shortly after this post. but now at almost 18 weeks he was struggling to stay on them and still hasn’t tried with sophie. i felt bad my dude was frustrated so i found him a hen sized stuffed animal and well…
